Very off topic - picked up a Suhr Riot distortion pedal last night. Havent had the opportunity to give it a try yet, but have heard alot of glowing reviews on it

Yeah - I know what you are saying. I was hoping to take a personal day off today to give it a good work through, but that isn't happening either.
I will give you all a report back on this soon!!!

It's great. Imo, sounds much better in front of a clean Fender style amp than as something to goose an already crunchy channel. I use it for when I'm playing through somebody else's setup.

from what I have heard this is a kinda of heavy distortion can you get some crunch with that thing?

Yeah - I was just intending do use it to as a variant to the gain channels on my electra-dyne - will likely replace the Crunchbox I have been using.
I usually goose the gain channels with an Xotic BB Preamp if needed

The Riot and Shiba are both great pedals and I love messing with them at the store! I haven't figured out how to run one of them through my rig yet but it is only a matter of time.

I had a few minutes yesterday afternoon to fire up the mesa and play with the Riot and yes it is everything it is rumored to be. Great sounds. It will be occupying the space previously shared by a M/I Audio Crunchbox - no slam at all cuz its also a great pedal. I like the Riot better. MOre later, gig tonight will tell the story!

When I plugged the Riot in the first time, I was reminded of Petrucci's Suspended Animation in a pedal... it's become the drive channel on my Holland Little Jimi.

I should have posted back on this. Yeah, I am quite pleased with the Riot, it has loads of good gain, very smooth with a great full EQ. Highly recommend trying one
