Celebrating my new-to-me guitar day. Picked up a Benji on the cheap. Guitar's in pristine condition, and I really like the metalflake green color.

I didn't buy it for the BM connection, though I do like Good Charlotte. I got it because I love single humbucker guitars, and this incorporates a really comfortable body and neck with a dead simple control design. I'd actually been toying with other builders guitars, and didn't get into the shape, or the tone, or the overall feel. I've bought some Gibsons, PRS's, and even a Peavey, and they all led me back to EBMM. Just had to branch out and try the wrong ones.

I'm conteplating some mods for this one. I've been reading up on the Seymour Duncan P-Rails. I like the idea of getting a humbucker, a P-90, and a single coil out of one pickup. I'm not usually a huge fan of neck pickups, but I'm thinking of getting a set of the Duncans, buying a new pickguard, and getting the neck pickup routed out. Worst case scenario, I can swap pickguards and go back to stock.

Thanks,

I spent a little time cleaning it and setting it up last night, also played for about an hour and a half. The neck needed a little sanding down and an oil/wax treatment. It was really dry.

I set it up with a pack of 10's, but I'm thinking of putting a set of 12's on there. It's got a nice sounding chug with distortion, but I'd love to hear it with heavier strings.

Thinking more about pickups too. I might even route it for a middle single coil, so I can use a Silo Special loaded pickguard. With a little routing, this will be a very mod friendly guitar.
