AHH yeah. That is a sweet silhouette. Great 80's tribute to a JEM. This is my favourite time of year to catch up on your world class Music Man collection.

Jeff,

I also have a shocking pink Jem from 1988 - so crapped my pants when I saw this thread.

You are GENIUS buddy!

I’ll be at Vai camp in two weeks (Palm Springs) - Steve Morse and St. Vincent will be there too - YOU SHOULD COME AND BRING THIS! :)

You should send it off to Herc Fede and have him put pyramids on the neck. If he still does that.
If he doesn’t, I know a guy that does awesome inlays and I’m sure could deliver...

Unfortunately, Herc Fede had passed away from a heart attack in 2014. Check it: Obituary - Herc Fede. Otherwise I'd have a swirl EBMM by now!

I have a guy who does pretty amazing work, and a lot of his early business was making IBZ replacement necks, including disappearing pyramid and vine inlays. He has it down to a science. He can also make 100% accurate JEM bodies including correct monkey grip and lions claw. Not sure if he'd be up for adding the monkey and lions claw to an existing guitar, and honestly I wouldn't pay to refinish the guitar again (which would be necessary with this kind of work).

Probably, I'll either (a) leave it the way it is, or (b) just paint the trem cavity green, or (c) MAYBE have inlays done (clear and easy enough to send him the neck and he cuts the inlays on CNC... but not sure if he would need to remove frets / refret. Really not looking to dump more money into this. Between the guitar and the pickups, pickguard, original JEM777 knobs and switch tip (which were $$$), two CTS knobs, IBZ blade switch, I already have a few bucks into this novelty guitar that i can guarantee I will never play out.

Then again, a lot of you guys reacted super positively (take that, DrKev! :D ), so maybe it is worth investing more. I didn't think I'd get the great reaction I did -- a lot of you are tickled by this offensively pink beastie!
