Welcome to Day 9 of my annual New Year's New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!
Thanks for the kind words and comments on NYNGD #2021-8!
We're plodding along here, but I'm doing my best in a very (thankfully) busy life.
You may have been wondering, "Wow, we're 8 guitars in and no Majesty yet!" Well, today's guitar remedies that problem -- a Majesty BFR Bali Blue Burst from the December 2020 BFR Run.
This girl has become one of my daily players. You see, since COVID, I basically never "go to work" for my day job anymore... I work from home. That typically means 10 hours a day on video conferences. And I have my webcam strategically placed so that I can be playing guitar (unplugged) while thoughtfully attending meetings, with coworkers (mostly) unaware that I am shredding. It's worked out great, because I have never been a guy who practices 8 hours a day... until now. So now I find myself playing complex patterns and increasing speed throughout the day and by the time I shut down my webcam, I'm playing the lick faster than I could ever imagine! It's been awesome! It also means that the JP signature on the back plate of this guy is mostly worn away, as it's been my main office guitar since it arrived in early 2021!
The thing that sets this guitar apart from all other Majesties is the roasted maple fretboard (all other Majesties have been ebony). The guitar feels great, plays amazing, sounds awesome unplugged and even better through my rig!
One weird thing I just noticed: on the BFR page, the headstock on the demo guitar is the aqua blue of the top and back of the neck. On mine, I actually thought it was black until I looked super close and can see that it's actually blue. It's that dark! Interesting.
Anyhoo... I'll be back soon with another NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Day! Thanks for looking everyone, and thanks for being patient!
Past Days:
The new EBMM message board limits the number of characters in a post so I can't put a list of direct links in the post. Click here for an index.
(The back story in case you're new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I've done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars.
The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)
(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas -- these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house...)
