O/T ...about this Berg thing

After hearing about Bergantino speaker cabs here and over at the pit I bought one, the HT112. It's sooooo small. You fellows with these things, can you do a blues gig in a 100 to 150 seat night club or is this for smaller gigs.

It sounds great here in my low volume studio, and there seems to be no limit on how loud I run it, but again this is at home. Do you need more than one for real world volumes?

It's a keeper for sure and when I really get a chance to mess with it some more I'll post my thoughts. I just don't want to blow it up.

Chuck, those things are great for small blues gigs and stuff. However, if you want a truly great mini rig, you need to pick up the EX112. That combo should be able to handle most small to medium sized indoor gigs, with tone for days.

Honestly Chuck, Ill only take one of my Berg cabs to most gigs. Ill take both for big shows, and outdoor venues, but one may suit you.

Also Chuck, many people say the Bergs are inefficient. I dont like that word, because it gives them a false fault.

Really, its a plus IMO, because they respond best when really pushed. Seems like the louder I push mine, the tighter it gets.

I have been using the EX112s alone at church the last couple weeks. The verdict? It sounds great and I do NOT miss the horn. Although it may be made to work with with the 2x10 HTs it sounds awesome all by it's lonesome, which is nice since it's 10 lbs lighter than my 2x10.

I can also say that I've played several small/medium sized blues/rock gigs with just one Berg and It has always filled the bill. Although it is nice to get the full rig together and wipe out small developing countries with my bongos.

Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing negative to say about this cabinet, but ya gotta admit it’s a tiny little box. Sitting next to my Ampeg 810e it just looks funny, I mean the SVT CL head looks like it would crush it.

I went to the jam last night and was talking to a friend of mine about this cab, as soon as I mentioned Bergatino he told me about another friend of mine. The bass player that hipped me to Ashdown, now he’s using two Berg 112’s with an ABM500 head. This guy is a great player and has a history of being LOUD.

I’m sure this little box will be plenty loud enough for me. I just wish I could crank it here at home, but everything rattles too much. I don’t know if the cab rattles or not. I may take it outside today and annoy the neighbors.

I may have to get it a brother… I smell the “snowball effect”.

questions regarding my new cabinet @ 9:44am this morning and he
personally responded to every one @ 10:00am. Now I'm getting spoiled.

Youre right about that. EBs customer servie is top notch, and Jims is right there too. I had some very specific questions, and he gave me his number to call him. I called, left a message, and within the hour he called back.

Great gear is great. However, great gear thats backed up by those who make it, is another story.

I fear my HT112 has a problem, I'm getting serious flapping, sort of a farting rattle when I hit a low B on the Bongo. I took the cab outside and cranked it a little. Huge amounts of air blows from the port and that seems to be where the rattle comes from and the farting comes from the bottom of the speaker, almost like its hitting the grille.

The volume while pretty loud, still isn't at gig levels. I'll email Jim and see what he thinks. The speaker may be blown, but it sounds great at mid to low volumes.

so it only farts out at higher levels? with all due respect to jim and his products(infact i should be getting my 322 in about 6 - 8 weeks), we still have to be realistic when using a single small cab. we can't expect too much out of just one 12", no matter what it is.

Just what I was thinking, but still it's amazing what does come out. On my 4 strings I can smack the open E and it'll knock the breath out of you!

I think there is an HT 322 in my future as well.
