WAHOOO!!!! Just had to tell someone! As most of you know, I had about $10,000 worth of dental surgery back at Christmas time.

Went to the dental surgeon today. They took x-rays of my jaw and pronounced that I was 100% completely healed!

All the bones are set perfectly, and everything has stopped shrinking! The only bummer was they took my teeth and sent them away for hard liners.

I should have them back tonight. Had a bit of trouble buying gas after.....

Yeah, it was embarassing!

.....you should have seen me trying to say: Fill up on pump seven..... It came out like: PFFFFFtttill upffft on ppppppumpppppppffft stttttebbbennnnn...

Ok, that's all I wanted to say.... I'M CURED!!!

Yeah. After all, you don't have one in Medallion Gold yet.

And I may be wrong, but none of yours are signed by BP, are they?

Notice the oh-so-cleverly disguised subliminal references to the SmallEQ Bongo, which just happens to be for sale....:D

Whew! Ritchie, I'll bet you're glad thats a chapter of your life you can finally close!

Hey, what about pay at the pump with a credit card? I never like going inside of gas stations, I always have a bad feeling they're gonna be held up while I'm in there...

Just in case you didn't know, if you pay at the pump, some of your funds are held for a couple of days until the transaction clears. For example, when you swipe your card at the pump, an authorization for some amount (usually $75) occurs. Then you pump your gas. The amount of gas you put in your car probably comes in less than $75.

Say you put $30 in the tank. Your card has $75 held until the $30 charge clears, then the $45 balance becomes available again. If you're using your checking account card and you ride close to a zero balance, the $75 hold could cause your bank to charge you an NSF fee since this amount is 'on hold'.

If you go into the gas station itself and do a normal POS credit/debit card transaction, then only the exact amount of the transaction is deducted from your available balance. You don't have to wait a couple of days to get your money back.

This doesn't happen where I live (Tempe, AZ). I think it varies by state and/or gas station.

Now don't get into any arguments in bars and blow all that good work!!
Not an issue. I go to very few bars. And the few I happen to frequent are usually populated by the sort of people who understand the terms "moderation" and "restraint".

I think you should celebrate by buying a new bass.

No.

I'm sure there are still a few DD's around for sale :p
I have four Dargies already. Any more would be wretched excess.

Heehee - I'm still chuckling at the "they took my teeth" line :D
It's true! I had to go without all day. And I REALLY wanted a cheeseburger!

Hey, what about pay at the pump with a credit card? I never like going inside of gas stations, I always have a bad feeling they're gonna be held up while I'm in there...
I normally do pay at the pump. Today I had my wife take my credit card and use it to buy supplies for fixing our house. So, I had to pay cash. I didn't actually have to go inside. It was one of those places with 20 pumps and a booth.

Just in case you didn't know, if you pay at the pump, some of your funds are held for a couple of days until the transaction clears.......etc.
I have never heard of this before. However, it would not surprise me. No worries though. I stay far away from a zero balance.

Good news Ritchie. But all it means is you got plastic. :D
True, but man it feels way better than broken teeth, twisted jawbones, and I am finally able to close my mouth properly.

All the best,

:D Ritchie :D

The hold amount varies by gas supplier. Here's an article on the issue. If you read the article, you'll see different gas companies have different policies. For example, Shell & Chevron only hold $1 while BP & Hess hit you for $75.

Well I know BP has hit all of you up for more than $75, nyuk nyuk nyuk.

I work at Ernie Ball, people! Of course I don't have problems with riding close to a zero balance! :D
