my house got hit by lightning last night, it destroyed my phones,tv's,2 pc's,dvd player, sound system, sat TV system...and everything else I leave plugged in all the time.

the worst part was I had a spare satellite box in my computer room and I had the phone cable out of it and just lying on the ground. My dog was asleep right beside it when the lightning hit and got a really bad shock, so bad it burnt away a load of hair. poor old mutt !! she is fine now

lucky I had just been out with the band so none of my gear was plugged in thank god. However my insurance cover me so it just means I have no phone or TV or pc for about a week !!! all I have to keep me going is my bongo a sr5 and a mark bass rig :D:D:D

No WAY!!!!! That's crazy man. Sorry to hear. Glad you are okay .. and the dog. Sucks about all your electronic equipment though. I never think about that kind of stuff living in the desert.
Hope the insurance stuff doesn't take too long.

Dogs are notoriously bad about processing unusual information. She must have spent quite a while looking for the fiery beast that attacked her.

I feel ya man, I have had two TV's blown up on 2 different occasions not to mention surving tornado that ripped the apartment my family lived in at the time to shreds at 4 in the morning when I was 15 (talk about an experience!) So I know what its like to get your stuff jacked up by the elements. We had a thunderstorm at my place last night and I unplugged everything I owned! No way I was going to give lightening a chance to blow up my new SVT 3-pro!

You can put a surge protector on the whole house as well, I had one of these put in.

That didn't help us when a tree took out the power transformer on the pole across the street - the surge was too big and quick for the surge protector. The neighbour told us she saw flames shoot along the power line as the surge headed for our house. It fried the a/c, oven, a TV, and phone line. All were replaced under insurance eventually, so no harm really.
