octaver for bongo 5

Hi,

just want to know what are your experiences with octaver pedals and bongos?
which one has minimal tracking issues with bongo basses?
The MXR BOD is practically unusable for me. Tried it with all possible pickup, volume, EQ combinations. Just doesn't track.

Ive been through a couple and so far the T-Rex Octavius works best for me regardless of bass... havent tried with a Bongo tho'.

I've been having good luck with the Aguilar Octamizer. I don't think it has anything to do with it being a Bongo, though. It's just a good octave pedal.

I don't think any octave pedal is going to get you anything usable below F#, though. So, I wouldn't count on doing anything on the B string.

The bongo doesn't track well practically nowhere on the fretboard, unlike my passive basses that all work great with the same octaver pedal.

Before getting a new pedal, you might want to try backing off the volume a little bit. The Bongos I've owned have had a very hot signal with the volume the whole way up, which can make octave pedals track less accurately. Turning it down should help. If not, there may be something wrong with the pedal.

Yeah, I run my basses through a compressor before it hits the octave pedal, and I don't have any issues with the Aguilar. And, according to this post, the guy who has tried both pedals says they track similarly:

I think I tried it all with bongo (low, very low volume, EQ, ...), maybe it's in the fingers...but then again, it works great with passive basses.

@bassmonkeee I run it before the compressor, because I like my octaver before my envelope filter in the chain.

Just got the new Markbass Octaver. Tracks well but more importantly for me it doesn't color the fundamental note as much as the Boss or MXR.

I like the MXR coloring, at least on the growl side because it does get synthy.

Something is crappy in that equation, and it's not your Bongo.

The best octaver I've tried is the T-Rex Octavius, and the second best would be the EBS OctaBass. And yes the T-rex tracks anything...
