I figured it would be a long shot.... But I have had a couple of offers here on the board. I will try over on Harmony Central before I go to ebay.

No problem....

I have been working as a project manager for a commercial developer for the past 5 years, and am going to work for a well known commercial real estate firm as their regional representative (our firm has been one of their clients).

I will work part time at first, with my bosses blessing, but hope to make it a long lasting carreer. I already have several listings, and have negotiated 3 leases in one month.

I'm just trying to save some bucks now on the notebook. Can upgrade later.

Cool thing about the Real Estate firm is that 4 of the 6 other Realtors are musicians!

I'm a computer guy and a guitar nerd - so here's my take: from your description im guessing youre gonna be doing standard stuff... word processing, some spreadsheets, presentations (MS Office stuff) and web browsing & email... sound about right?

Now unless you're concerned about weight, size etc id honestly think that a laptop that can handle your needs (not the best laptop ever - but it'll work just fine) could be had for about 1/2 of the resale value of that sport.

I just checked Dell.com and their "basic" notebook model seems suitable for general those tasks (would need a RAM upgrade) and is about $450 new.

just thought id toss that out there. feel free to PM me if you have some questions. but id really hate to see you ditch an MM90 sport and get a bad deal.

I must admit also I'm a computer guy. For what your looking to do. You would be getting shafted on selling the Axis. For what you described you need a very basic notebook. Nothing fancy.

I wouldn't call it 'mean'... I'd call it 'observational humor'. :D

(I did put a laughing face in there.. but then I've been in the closing business for 17+ years...)

Thanks for all the feedback guys!!

Good band name ideas... We were thinkin' really lame, like "Realty Rock", of course one of the fellows in our organization was an opera major! I like "The Closers".

One of the other guys tried to tempt me with a sexy new Dell XPS for my 87 Morse but I wouldn't even consider.

You are all correct, I could sell the sport and buy a more than decent new notebook with the cash, if I could find a buyer. I've listed it for $650 shipped even, with no takers, only tire kickers.

Keep your thoughts coming.....

Or if you particularly hate Dell (like I do), you could go with Acer, Toshiba or Lenovo aka IBM (Certified used, for example http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/s...1&catalogId=-840&langId=-1&categoryId=2576396)

None of the 3 are perfect, but you could get a new Acer Aspire for about 400 on buy.com or tigerdirect.com. Latter has a big selection of reconditioned laptops as well. Toshiba you can get from ToshibaDirect for about 550, and new IBM ThinkPad Z-series for about 600. If you're willing to put in some more time and monitor fatwallet for a couple of weeks I'm sure you'll come across some better deals, especially since Intel is releasing Core 2 Duo in August, so all older laptops will be selling dirt cheap.

I would not trade a guitar for a laptop though, mainly because of warranty issues. You're always better off if you are the original owner if you want them to fix something.

Very bad investment ...

The computer you buy today will have lost completly its value in 3 or 4 years.
But a guitar ... it can be the opposite.
Imagine in 1965 a guy trading a Les Paul 59 for a TV Box ... You see what I mean ???

Keep your guitar and sell your TV : first you will have money and you will have more time to play the guitar !

PS : I am "TV-free" since 1996
