My ex once butchered a walnut sculpture I worked on for a month, with an ax, when I was on the road.

Mammas, don't let your daughters grow up to marry musicians, unless they're secure in themselves.

My ex threw my N4 at me. I love that guitar before anybody starts! It survived. The relationship didn't tho. Why wives and gf's do this is beyond me. Any partner willing to even threaten something like that needs kicking in to touch.

This is an interesting discussion. You have to remember that many people (especially ones that didn't learn an instrument while growing up or didn't grow up around musicians) see guitar playing as nothing more than a childish activity that we never outgrew. The guitars are just kids toys - and every teenager has one. It pains me, but I've encountered it more than once, even from my own relatives! My mother-in-law once told me 'you have to admit that men's hobbies are more childish than women's hobbies' as she sat there knitting... I 'have to admit?' It left me speechless...

So I can clearly see why people wouldn't respect the instruments....

Call me an idealist but, the way I see it, they care about the things you care about or they don;t care about you at all.

I couldn't agree more. I definitely lucked out in this area. My wife was so impressed with BP and the EBMM folks at the open house that when we got home she told me that I could buy as many guitars as I wanted. She understands, respects and supports my hobby. :) I definitely feel for the folks that don't have this support...
