Well, I just dropped off my SR5 at the local guitar shop to have the ever lovin' frets ripped out of it! Should be a good move though, I won't have the scratch for a fretless Bongo until the New Year but am in serious need of some mwah. I'll have photos in a week or so..........

I mean this entirely out of curiousity, but isn't there some reaosn you're not supposed to convert fretted to fretless? Or do you just have to make sure your bass is in Really good hands?

Yes, really good hands and that he takes one fret out and fills it then takes the next fret out and fills it and so on.... I think.... but it worked out ok for Jaco :D

Cool Pete. You'll love the SR5 Fretless mwah. Now that I'm running mine thru a Boss Bass Chorus pedal I love the sound so much that I'm not even GASsing for a fretless Bongo  :D

Sounds like a plan! I had a Yamaha RBX5 that I had converted to fretless about 10 years ago that worked out great. I eventually sold it since I don't really care for lined fretlesses.

I like the idea of picking up a fretless SR5 in the future, but I have a feeling the fretless Bongo 5 that I'm picking up, oh....TODAY will cure my fretless GAS for a while. :D

I too had a fretted bass that I had De-Fretted about 10 years ago. Never had a problem with it.
