I have just bought a nice Keeley Compressor and iam looking to update my overdrive pedal.

Currently i have i tubescreamer which has been modded by CMat mods (with the following The following MODs performed:

RC4558 Chip Mod

Brown Mod

Several Hi-Fi Mods

Super smooth gain Mod

Transparent Tone Mod

Following parts are used:

RC4558 Chip and Socket

Two Tantalum 1uF Capacitors

Three .1uF Metal Film Capacitors

Two Boxed Metal Film Capacitors

Brown Mod parts:

One 10k ohm Carbon Comp

Resistor

One 100 ohm Carbon Comp

Resistor

i was just wondering what you would reckomend in terms of overdrive pedals. I do like the sound of a tubescremer i usualyl run it with everthing on full into a clean amp.

I have heard the BB Preamp is very good.

What would you guys Rec?

I'd recommend either of the following as they're all VERY tasty:

Crowther Hot Cake
Fulltone Fulldrive 2 mosfet or GT-500
BB preamp
MXR ZW-44
Keeley TS9 Plexi mod

and last but certainly not least, the Love Pedal Eternity.

all of the above supply gorgeous tones in their own right. its all down to what your ear hears with your gear and what you want from the pedal.

I think you have nailed it when you say the (xotic) BB pedal. I have noticed that a lot of pros have at least one xotic pedal in their set up when I have seen them at trade shows. Xoticy have brought out the BBplus - search on you tube and you will find plenty of clips - make sure that you also check out Allen Hines demo of the pedal.

i got one of the Fulltone GT-500's and didn't like it. It seems to add a slightly compressed vibe to the sound which i didn't like. I also just couldn't seem to dial in the right sound.

i'm currently using a Boss SD-1 for very mild overdrive/boost, an MI Audio Blues Pro for heavier bluesy overdrive and a modded vintage Boss DS-1 for heavy distortion. Into a very clean amp.

I get constant positive feedback on my tone so that combo must be workin for me LOL

I looked into Pete Cornish pedals as David Gilmour is my idol.. but they're just too expensive and more importantly, the lead time to get one is incredibly long (many months)

I think the Marshall Bluesbreaker II is a great overdrive and boost pedal (has both functions) that can be had for a reasonable amount.
