Not sure if everyone likes this kind of music, but the new Mr. Big cd called, "What If.." is well worth the price tag :D

There is an endless array of guitar & bass riffs to keep even the experienced players busy for a while.

I teach guitar on the side and Paul Gilbert is always a topic of conversation for lessons ;) The younger generation needs to get exposed to better playing so they have something to aspire to !!! In my opinion.....

Paul Gilbert is awesome!

You should also check out Fuzz Universe or Silence Followed By A Deafening Roar - excellent albums, IMO.

Hey Tommy!

Thanks for this thread. A little while ago (because of this thread!) I put on SFBADR for my kids - and they actualy like it! Since my wife hates this stuff, I'm glad someone in the home will listen to it with me. :)

Not only is Paul Gilbert a smokin player,if you've ever watched any of his interviews, he seems like a genuine guy. Also pretty funny.

One of the best players out there and in my opinion the best instructional teacher bar far. I have never had lessons and am totally self taught but I do have a pretty big library of DVDs. It is amazing how so many great players would make horrible teachers with Yngwie topping the list. For anyone that has seen an Yngwie DVD he plays a part at 190 BPM and then slow at 189 lol. Gilbert just has a gift for teaching and I agree he seems like a really great guy to hang with, I love that killer tone he gets on songs like Green Tinted Sixties Mind and Norwegian Cowbell. Petrucci and Morse also have the knack for teaching.

I am a huge fan of his solo work....The "Get Out of My Yard" cd + DVD are amazing.
Purchase, "Accoustic Samuri", "Beehive Live", and "Burning Organ" when you have time.

The Racer X stuff, like the song, "Superheros", will keep you in headphones for a long time trying to get all the parts down.
