Its not even close!

GREAT score... I think I almost bought that one on talkbass near the Canadian border. Love my Bongo 5HH its my number one right now with the Sterling 5HH PDN slightly behind it! KEEPERS FOR LIFE!

Its the best neck finish I've ever seen... satin, roasted birdseye, pau ferro, matching HS... ridiculous
Thanks for the cheers..Actually i have to say it, this PDN version most be the most eye catching, stuning beauty of them all IMHO.

Actually this one came out of Florida, I actually don't know who was the dealer on FL, I ordered it through a Local Dealer.

BTW I am from Mexico.

If your s/n is #F11211 it came from Bass Central.
There's a few pics of it still up on their website if you want to capture them for your picture folder.

In case anyone is looking for a honeyburst PDN Bongo 5HH, I'm offering mine up for trade for one of the new Neptune Blue PDN's. You buy the new one, we trade. Roasted maple neck a must. :)

Got to play the Reflex out a gig volume tonight, such a growly beast if I want it. And so comfy to play.

OK, back in the club (for the 3rd time, gulp, hope this one stays around a bit longer).

This was kicking around as New Old Stock, and now its mine.

Me and Keko love the Reflex, how many more are there like this one out there? I wonder.

love that it has "dimples" on it

Plays like a dream, especially once I get flats on it (my requirement, not the company's)

That is gorgeous. Never played a Reflex, but that's a nice score.

I was looking at that one for a while!

I'm going way out on a limb here - these honey hog pdn are still my fave PDNs, and smoke what I've seen so far of the neptunes. IMO

Nothin against the neptunes mind.

Matching headstock was clutch... same for Pau ferro board. That really adds a super nice touch. I always end up selling my Maple basses as they are just a bit too thin in the upper registers & disappear in the mix. I've sold a maple Sterling H, Big Al SSS & recently my Sterling 5HS all for the same observation. The Sterling 4HH rosewood I sold I miss the most but didn't like black, tone was perfect.

As much as I prefer the look of maple I have to stop the bleeding from the bass carousel! Bongo 5HH & Sterling PDN 5HH are still keepers for life!

The roasted maple neck and board do look very good. My BFR Stingray has that combo.

By going with fretless on the Neptune package I'm getting the Pau Ferro board on the maple neck.
It'll be similar to my Honey Roasted Bongo except for single H and fretless....... and blue.

Still loving the PDN

Gigged it last night. I found the perfect Disco setting to get that G string to pop right out... Jack up the mids in the parallel setting. I was using my Bongo 5HH for this project as its a better fit but the Sterling 5HH is creeping back in. I also prefer the Sterling HH for punk with a pick. It just retains that Sterling aggression with that P bass fullness that bands like GreenDay Blink182 shoot for but I can also hit the bridge pickup punk that Ps cant such as MXPX & Less Than Jake. A "regular" Sterling could never cop a P bass but this can.

Still a keeper for life!

My PDN went in for a fret sprout job at Mouradian Guitars in Winchester, MA.

Came out BEAUTIFULLY. $30 bucks! Great guys, great service. Feels 1000x faster!

I really love my MusicMan PDN StingRay Classic Honey Roasted bass (5 string). It looks absolutely awesome and has a great tone.

However, apart from the great sound, I noticed that the mid and especially high tones aren't very represented. This is the opposite of my Fender basses, which have quite loud high tones. I use regular Slinky bass strings, but read something about the Cobalts. Maybe this is worth a try. What are your experiences regarding this? I am very curious to know.

Furthermore, I find the switch a bit unstable. It doesn't always switch to a different element setting, especially for the middle position. To be honest, this is a bit annoying.

Finally, I had trouble having my G string too close to the edge of the fretboard. This resulted in regularly pressing the string unwantedly off the fretboard... I replaced the nut with a custom one, which solved the problem.

I know this sounds like a lot of complaining... But again: I do love this bass! Its appereance is absolutely stunning and the tone is undeniably awesome. These are some issues I encountered and I am very curious what others experiences are. Please let me know!

The Mahogany body definitely mellows out the tone & adds lows. My solution is to have lows cut A LOT & viola, mids & highs come to the front. I have a Sterling, I can only imagine you'd near to have the lows near off with the Stingray. I know it sounds weird but its worth a shot, play around with your amp settings from there.

Some switches are bitches, as CS about a fix.

Thanks for the response, Tunaman! On my tone control, I turned the bass knob all the way down. This seems to improve the total tone balance. Thanks again for the advice!
