Good band pics are worth their weight in gold. Any time I've got a chance to play on a big stage with good lights I grab it and make darned sure somebody's taking pictures, even if the gig does not pay. They become band posters that make us look like a much bigger deal than we really are.
The alternative is "family snapshot" stuff. Just compare the new vs. old pics of Aussie Mark. Same guy, but in the old one it looks like he's playing in somebody's living room. The new one looks really professional.
It's amazing what good shots can do, even if they're not perfect. Check out the posters I made today....
