Not really discrete though. I'm still trying to think of ways to get this past the head of the house - I mean really, silver sparkle? Hardly blends in with the collection!

hey congrats that's a great looking bass (and of course it sounds great since it's an EBMM), for the "entering the house" problem i suggest to cover it with flowers and chocolates, of course a little praying doesn't cause any harm :)

That is a great looking bass! Wish it would have been in the US. I would have gone after it. I have always been a sucker for sparkles.

You could always walk in the door of your home, cradling the new bass in your arms like a puppy, and just say, "Honey, it followed me home... I couldn't leave it out on the streets!" And then make this face

Richard, use my technique - bass stays in the car until head of the household is in the shower or in bed - then you can sneak it in and hide in amongst the other gear. Good luck!

+1

pretend you've had it for years. If x-examined, keep a straight face and act dumb :D:D:D

"Oh, that one? It's been in the case under the bed for a few years. I took it out recently to put new strings on it and give it a general once-over. While doing that I realised it's a pretty good one, so I might play it a bit more now"

"Don't you remember when I got that? Remember you said it was a bad idea because it didn't match any of my clothes? I can't believe you don't remember that."

Or, the other line that's really good is, "How can you not remember this? I have TWO of them! You had to have seen at least one of them when I first got it." (When pinned down, the other one is in the shop.)

Congratulations. That's a gorgeous and seriously flashy beast.

Mark, Gav... I've successfully used that sort of angle before, but seriously, with silver sparkle..... ???

NO WAY are any of those lame lines going to cut it. I was considering saying "it's a refinish, it used to be sunburst" given there's already a range of 'bursts in the closet. That somehow lacks plausibility, given no sane middle aged man would purport to have such a crazy refinish job performed. Oops, I said sane....obviously this purchase negates any such notion anyway. :p

Plan 2 - funny you should say that Gav. In the interim the same thought came to me, in fact I will be offloading a 7ender soon, so that's my angle!

Who wears the pants? They may be sparkly pants. Buy her something that costs twice as much!

Yeah maybe some vintage 70's silver sparkle pants that match the bass..How cool would that be!
