How do you know him, BP?

My pal Mark Jenny has been doing the relic thing for a while now, and does a stellar job.*

He's kind of overly-focused on Telecasters, but so many of my friends are.

Steve has done work for me before (back when I lived in OC), and is a gentleman and a hell of a luthier.

That being said, I think relic-ing anything (guitars, rat rods, leather clothing) is kind of retarded.

Steve Souest--haven't heard that name for a while. I contacted him in the early 80s about a restoration that I was doing & I needed some obscure parts. I was referred to him by a Cincinnati music store that was housed under a club owned by Larry Flynt (always thought that was an interesting location). At that time Steve was one of the few guys around who was a source for vintage parts--most guys were more interested in routing templates to install Floyd Rose's in old guitars. He was a nice guy to deal with.

I'm with Chuck, I like mine shiny and new!

Same here...if my bass looks played to death and full of battle scars, I want it to be because I actually played it to death and battled for those scars.

On the other hand...I don't have any dings or scratches on my SR5 yet, and I'm trying really hard to keep it that way.

I think you've hit on something here.

New product:

Wonder Wipes Relic Pads

Available in 60, 80 and 120 grit.......:D
And with good marketing you can convince the masses it isn't just regular sandpaper, but instead a specially formulated grit for most standard bass guitar finishes. Naturally, you'd need to get Wonder Wipes Relic Custom Pads for mucking up those limited edition colors.
