That's the info the owner gave me. I don't know how accurate it is. However, going by the aucton pics, it does appear to have a narrow neck.

I seem to remember having a conversation with Jon about basses built for artists...Paul McCartney has a Sterling....and I think, although I might be making this up, he mentioned Sting.

Jon? BP? Dargin? Derek?

I'd say on pedigree (Sting) and unique-ness alone, $1100 is a steal.

We have made basses for Sir Paul. I don't know about Sting....Derek or BP may be able to help out here

Gav..I don't work Fridays, but maybe someone who does will see this and check.

The bass says Stingray "special" but it gives no name. It was more than likely made for an artist. We will check with Dudley.

Thanks

Derek

I'm a pretty big Police and Sting fan, and I recall him mentioning in interviews that he has rather large hands and I would think thats one of the reasons he has been favoring "baseball bat-sized" vintage P-basses and what he prefers. I would think a Stingray neck would have been more applicable.

Of course he did play a '62 Jazz quite a bit too..........sheeesh......I'm stumped
