OH NOES! My wife wants a guitar!

On another note, this Silo is a pretty sweet axe. Now I want one. Here's why:

I was playing it a bit last night getting it set up (didn't need anything but about 1/4 turn on the truss rod) using the Albert Lee preset on my Spider Valve. Double stops on this guitar in the 4th switch position are SWEET! They were super smooth and had that strat-like chime to them. I couldn't get enough.

Long story short, I think I'm changing what my next guitar will be(after the 25th). I was going to get a Koa JP6, but not any more. I want a Silo now... I'm also more interested in an AL now.

She's going bonkers with this learning thing, too. I guess she's going to keep playing for a while... She already snagged my scale book and has started practicing the first scale in the book (C major). And she's been asking to learn something new every day.

She's a really good student. She treats me like I'm not her husband when I'm giving her a lesson. I can see myself becoming a better guitarist from teaching her...

To be honest, I think she saw a video of Rena Petrucci on YouTube and decided if JPs wife can do it, she can. She might be disappointed...I don't know how to engage "World Domination Mode."

Cool that she started digging into scales and stuff.. But, shouldn't you be starting with basic chords and stuff first.. You know, learn a few basic songs along the way..any/all songs she likes.. That keeps it exciting.. Just saying, it s fun when you enjoy the things you are doing..

Dude...she did that on her own. Everything I'm teaching her is basic stuff. Chords, a couple easy songs, etc. She wants to be able to SHRED! But I totally agree with you...

New or used? Looks pretty minty... Have yet to see a new silo at a gc. Seen everything except silos and albert lees. In fact I don't even think I've seen an albert in person.

I've seen both Silos and Albert Lee's at the Hollywood GC. I never realized how awesome the AL was until I played one at that GC.

Nice, lucky wife, and husband Yea GC has been getting alot of Silo,s lately, played a true gold one at thier both at the Dallas Guitar Festival, and it was priced right as well, congrats on getting her a great axe

Mrs OLPlayer thinks that's a great colour - the all important factor! To be fair to the lady, she's learning the bass guitar at the moment - she's a very good pianist and has dabbled on an acoustic guitar about 35 years ago - but now says she wants an EBMM bass. Me thinks I may have to fork out for this as she bought me an ASS for my birthday last year and she keeps telling me hers is after the UK Knucklehead bash in June.

When you date it's around 80%
When you're married its 50%
Then -10% for every wonderful little one that enters the world.

It's ok though, you can play and learn her EBMM Bass too. So it's a two way street.

I've lived out here for five years now and never been to the hollywood gc. Almost did, but it was closing right as we walked up. Besides, the hollywood gc is special. It gets special things most gc's don't. Whereabouts are you in long beach? We moved a couple months ago from downtown to just across the bridge in seal beach.

Follow-up

Hey guys. I thought I would take a minute and do a little follow-up on this since it's been about a month since I started the thread.

So she loves the guitar. She says it's "pretty" and it's "comfortable." She's been doing really well with learning also. So far, she's got down about 7 or 8 chords and she's learned a couple positions of the C Major scale. She's playing along with some simple rhythms I recorded for her and doing great with switching chords. A great student overall. She's been practicing almost daily (pretty much any time I play one of my guitars, she goes and gets hers and practices).

Good stuff, guys. It's brought us together more which is awesome!
