Well, after finding out that my bass was set up by Jon (the Man) last Thursday, I was hopeful that I'd have it in time for my gig this weekend. I called Adam at GC, and he said that he talked to EB/MM and was told that it shipped that same Thursday, but he didn't get a tracking number. Wednesday comes, and no bass. Thursday comes, and no bass. So, I call EB Customer Service, and get a tracking number.

Turns out the bass didn't even ship until this Tuesday, so I won't see it until next Monday. And, of course, I don't have any gigs scheduled for another 3 weeks, at least.

Oh, well. At least I know it's fretless, and unlined, and the colors of the neck and body match perfectly. Another couple of days won't kill me, but what a let down for the weekend gig. :(

At least my white pearl pickguard from Bovinehost showed up for my Black Sapphire Bongo. Not quite as good as a new bass, but I'll take what I can get. :D

I feel for you too. You are taking it very well and can be commended for that attitude.

Heck I can't even hardly wait to see the pics.

Well, thanks. EB has been great about everything, and so has Guitar Center. I think with everything else going on in the world (Hurricanes, beheadings, etc), I'm not going to get up in arms about something as silly as an extra couple of days wait for a hunk of wood, plastic, Sherwood Williams paint, and wire. :D

Besides, I still have a Bongo to play, and I still have a gig. heck, I even have the new Star Wars DVDs and Battlefront game to keep me busy, too.

Life is good.

always sucks to get excited about things and have them fall thru.

like you said though, although getting the new EB in time for your gig would rock ... there could be a lot crappier things that could happen.

I can't wait to see pics and hear some mp3s! it sounds like I might have my SR5 back and fretless around the same time.

Heh--I was waiting for that. :p

Even though it wasn't here for last night's gig (which involved 5 different women shoving money down my pants over the course of 4 hours, BTW), I just found out that I've got gigs both this Friday and Saturday night, so I'll have plenty of time to give it a work out. :D :D :D

Oh, and any Bongo owners looking for a good string match should check out the TI Superalloys. It's official--they are my new favorite string.

EDIT: I just realized I have a 30 minute massage scheduled before I go and pick up the Bongo. Life is definitely good.

New basses rule. Long waits to get them suck. But, in the end, you're bound to have it for longer than you waited for it (unless, of course you are registered at The Dude Pit), so it's all good in the long run, right?

I keep the GAS down to one bass a year. For the last three years a new, or at least new to me ,has come into the house on the same day. Nothing planned , just a fluke, so this year it's intentional.I would like to round out my "Leo" basses. It was that or an older Rickenbacker......maybe next year. I'm a bit of a black hole when it comes to basses. I've never sold a bass.

We had women throwing their underwear at us at last weeks gig... Slightly off-putting... they kept hitting me in the face. I hope they were clean. :)

My wife appreciates my similar situation :p
Although I do have a nice little old lady who gives me a hug at church every Sunday because I buy her a pop :p . (Pop = Soda in the midwest)

Heh, got a lapdance once during a gig (during a bass solo, actually), but never had underwear thrown.

I'll take the cash, instead. :p

EDIT: UPS tracking shows the Bongo is "Out for Delivery" :D :D :D

Did you manage to stay in key?

I turned round at the end of the first set to see our drummer had put on some of the aforementioned projectiles... it was inevitable ;)

One of the most enjoyable gigs I've played... it was a one-off Smiths tribute night for charity.

Heh--I'd expect nothing less from a drummer.

UPDATE: It's been delivered to Guitar Center, so I'll have my fretless on the way home from work today! Whoo Hoo!!!

Nothing like a half hour therapeutic massage followed by picking up a fretless Bongo to make a Monday more bearable. :D
