I'd wait for the brand-new one made just the way you want it.

Plus, Poppa needs new shoes.
I could, but as I said in the OP, I'm really not in a position to wait 3 months. I was not initially quoted 3 months by the dealer, and had I known this, I would have simply bought a used or already made EB, instead of waiting for a new one. I understand that is the wait time, and I can't change it, but I also can't wait 3 months. I've got gigs and recording sessions coming up soon.

The wait is part of the fun. Personally, I would wait for the guitar I ordered. If you ordered this guitar, it is because it's exactly what you want ..
If you need to have a good guitar for the 3 months, you can ask the shop to lend one to you (especially if they said that the wait was just 2 weeks ...). I am sure they have some second hand guitars that can suit you.
Just my 2 cents, but a brand new EBMM is really something special.

If you're really in a bind (which it sounds like), just buy one elsewhere. Tons of stores in Canada have stock. You might not get the exact colour, but I'm sure you can find a great one. (The Toronto area has a dozen places that stock EBMMs, you could ship one anywhere across the country, for example.)

The EBMM guys can help you locate a dealer with what you want in stock. Drop them a line.

Well, here's the deal. I'm set on it now.

I've emailed a local to me forum member about his loaded CPB Petrucci. I've gotten them to agree on a good price, and tonight I'll know if I'm getting that. If that happens, great.

However, if not, I'm going to L&M, canceling my Silo order, and asking my sales rep to look in the computer for any other Silo's at L&M's across Canada. I will pick one that I like, have it shipped to my location and pay for it. I'm sure they'll have something to my liking. If they don't, I'll just find another EBMM somewhere. If I wasn't in such a bind with obligations and only enough money for one EBMM, I'd wait. But alas, it's just not doable.

Hey Will,

I'm assuming you'll get my e-mail soon, but unfortunately due to time constraints I won't be able to finish the deal for a few weeks. I'm kinda making light of the situation by calling it "time constraints" but that gets my point across I guess.

As I said in the e-mail, I apologize profusely that it ended up this way, but I wouldn't be able to have you test the guitar or pick it up for ~2 weeks, which is too long for you to wait with a silo order in limbo. And I think it'd be irresponsible of me to ask you to cancel your silo order to wait for a JP that may or may not happen. That said I know you'll make the right choice.

If you are still in the market in 2 weeks or so though, drop me a line and we will continue as usual. I apologize, but my schedule has changed since the point when I was trying to sell the guitar. I wish you the best of luck though! And so long as you choose a Ball, it'll be a GREAT decision :D
As I stated in my reply to you Matt, that's perfectly fine. However, I will be most likely canceling my other order, and either buying an in stock Silo from another L&M, or buying a used one. I'm not at all in a position to wait for too long, so I have to rule out the JP and the new Silo. Best of luck to you.

To the OP:

One thought has occurred to me. You mentioned that you tried a Silo and loved it and decided to order one. And then, in light of recent developments about the wait time, you are considering a JP.

In addition to the basic tones, the feel of the neck on the Silo is significantly different from the feel of the neck on the JP. Both are great (as are all Ball necks) but I do not view them as perfectly interchangeable substitutes.

If you told me that either is wonderful in its own way, I'd completely agree, but ... you've tried them both, correct?

Uhm.....no . I haven't actually played a Silo. I had tried the exact JP that I was considering buying, as well as an Axis. However, I chose those two because of one thing, 24 frets.

Compared to the Silo, the JP neck is flatter (15" radius comapred to 10" radius on the silo), thinner front- to-back, and a wee bit wider. The Silo neck is a bit chunkier (thicker front-to-back) and has a smaller radius. Both are great.

I am generalizing broadly here, but the JP neck is more geared toward shredding and the Silo neck is a more traditional/classic C-shape (only better!). Obviously you can easily shred on a Silo and play in a more classic manner on a JP.

Something to consider if you have not actually played a Silo. How did you like the Axis neck? IMO, it's not the same, but it's closer to the Silo.

What's wrong with the Fly? I wouldn't have any reservations about playing jobs or recording with that until I got my EBMM.

Yeah.

So anyway, here's where I stand now. I told myself that fate would choose if I get a Silo', or JP-6, and obviously fate chose the Silo', so now I just need to find one to call my own :).
