OK fellas/ladies...I am starting to get my life back to normal since my situation over the past year. I am looking to get me a six string. I just can't decide which one I want. To make this easier....I have played every model axe EBMM has made. So, I don't need to try it...I know which ones I like....I just can't get past which one to GET. This will happen in a few months and there is no turning back.

1. Axis. To me, this is the work horse of the group. I started with one many years ago and I have always loved them. Looking at one in Pacific Blue Burst or Natural.

2. Y2D. I loved the feel of this guitar and it is just a stunner to say the least. I would get this in Tobacco Burst.

3. AL. Even Big Poppa will tell you I couldn't put that one down at the NAMM show in Austin. Simply a great feeling and sounding axe. Pacific Blue Burst with a white ice pick guard.....awesome.

Here are a few things I will NOT consider. I will not get the BFR AL. I love the looks of it...just Pink does not do it for me. Plus, I won't have the $$$ for that one.

Another JP. I love them to no end....just looking for something different.

Silo and Luke. I can't play them. So, as much as I love LUKE, I can't get past the V shaped neck and the Silo...doesn't sit well with me for some reason.

I have been saving my pennies and nickels ;) and it is time to reward ME. What better way to get through some bad times than to get a new axe.

Foggy....get those pics ready....I will be requesting some shots in the future.

Koogs,

I would say go for the AL, you seem to love it already so why not, and the color combo you have already chosen will look incredible !!

Although I am CIC ALOC I'd still suggest going with the Y2D or THE ASS for you Koogs. You've referenced many times that metal is your style, and although the AL might get you there with a boost or pedals, it's just not what it was made for. The other two with the buckers and the way they are voiced would get you to what you play much easier (assuming you get something other than a JP as referenced).

If you want something different all together for expanded playing possibilities - Go the AL. If you want something better suited for your usual material, my first vote would be the Y2D - you like it and its just cool

Koogs well my first thought was BFR AL, then I read your post so never mind, but it really is not that pink:)

Anyways great choices I am not a fan of the Y2D, wasnt comfortable for me.

So I would say an AL or the natural axis, plus you know where a nat axis is in stock that looks killer:D

Nice one Koogs,
not an easy choice sir, buy 'em all having money is for the weak, besides someone with your 'encouragement skills' should be able to get a good deal!!!

First off, that's awesome Koogs- glad to hear things are improving for ya. Getting a new axe is a great way to celebrate.

I'll echo Mike's comments. With Metal in mind, ASS or Y2D. Both are great and can scorch paint yet also give you good clean sounds if you want em. :)

(That said, I have to say my AL is dead quiet with the new Bill Lawrence p'ups I put in there. Quieter than any of my HB equipped guitars when I crank up the gain.)

Hey Koog, glad to hear the sun is shinin' your way again.

My first thought is Axis, cuz from what you say you already know you love 'em.

Kinda surprised that you dig the Y2D but yet not the Silo. But then in addition to no cutaways on the Y2D there's the neck radius difference. I'm guessing the Silo Special isn't your thing either.

Looking forward to seeing your choice. Good on ya, bro.

The AL is an awesome guitar as you well know - as Mbgreen has already said, it may not deliver the humbucking sound that you may desire. With the AL you will need to put a couple of pedals in the chain - but what guitarist nowadays plays without a pedal - there aren't many.

The AL with a BB Plus pedal or maybe a Seymour Duncan pickup booster may get you there.

Go with whatever guitar feels right - and I've a feeling from what you have said- it may be the AL.

Dunno what you had to go thru the last year man, but sure good to hear things are getting better for you, Koogs !

I agree with some of the above knucks, that either the ASS or the Y2D would be the best pick for you. I personally would give the Y2D a go because it is - at least here in Europe - not as widely spread amongst guitarists. PLUS that tobacco burst is an awesome choice.

All the best to you man, and cheers with beers from Bavaria

Well, since you couldn't put it down, I'd say go for the AL. MM90 AL to be specific. You've already got a hard-rockin' JP, right?
