the Al neck is almost perfect to me.
I am 6' 2" and have pretty big paws, but i always liked true 1 5/8 necks to wrap my hand around.
my Axis is comfy but too narrow. its actually more narrow than 1 5/8
the Al is a work of art. its 1 5/8 but the heel is a bit wider than a standard strat so the way it slowly tapers up is awesome. at first i thought it would be a bit weird but its awesome. especially the unfinished rosewood neck on the Al HH
