i'm still confused on wich one is purple sunset. i think it's this one....&...... the one at the top of this thread i think is purple burst w/ a black plug where the switch use to be.....

I remember talking about the binding before, and how you (tommy) liked this prototype w/o it better. Having looked at the pic that Colin posted, I have to say I think the binding looks awesome. Has it changed since the ones they had at NAMM?

Binding, like many other things in life, is certainly a matter of taste. My opinion, just like everyone else’s, is inconsequential. I do recall that the NAMM show pieces had a binding very similar to the axis. Speaking with Steve (yes, Mr. Morse) he related that the binding seemed to give a little harsh of a corner as opposed to the rounded curvature of his standard SMEBMM’s. Also that they (EBMM and Steve) were trying to find a more rounder(er) binding for comfort. The pictures I have seen of later prototypes seem to reflect that action is being addressed.

Yes the process of building a new guitar must be fascinating <kissey kissey noise heard in background>

I wish I knew more about binding from a practicality, functionality, artistic, and production points of view.

Tommy,

I believe that the one on top of this thread is also Purple sunset, although a bit different in color from the one in the url you mention. I'm almost sure about this, since I asked customer service about it a while ago and they assured me that the De-purple burst is almost the same as the pacific blue burst color and the tobacca burst is almost the same as the tobacco sunburst in the color chart.

Hope that helps?

Gr, Tom.
