Guys (& gals) -
I've had mine now for about two weeks or so. I had to do some comparing this morning with other guitars - why? Because I wanted to, damn it!
In any event, I was testing it against my LP copy, my CS strat and my Axis.
After I was done, the one thing that really struck me about the HH AL was how rich the tone is. It's completely full bodied and thick and meaty and juicy - but at the same time - it is also incredibly articulate from string to string - chords are an absolute joy to behold - it just never gets mushy at all (like the LP copy - and every LP I've ever played - does!). It was easily as crisp and tight as my maple necked guitars. Now, the strat and Axis both also have very nice bite - but they don't have the chocolatey richness that the AL has - I mean it's just stunning!
I don't know how to really properly describe it - you know that sort of richness in a good chocolate or brandy that makes your whole mouth and throat go - "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - thank you for that!" - that's what the tone of the HH AL is like, IMO. It's just bloody superb!
Thinking about dumping my Strat and getting another HH AL and loading it SSH................any thoughts on how the HH AL might sound with a single coil in the neck and middle? Let me have 'em!
