I'm having no luck finding a replacement few replacement parts for my 1986 Silo and hoping someone can help.

I'm missing a behind the nut locking screw and attaching block. I originally thought it may be a Schaller or Kahler part, but have found out they're probably not. So does anyone know what EBMM used back in the day?

Even better, has anyone got one or know where I could get one? I've attached a few photos - the one on the bottom two strings is the replacement Kahler that works, but isn't ideal - takes a different, metric allen key and isn't quite as wide in the attaching bolt. The second pic is the two types off the guitar - the one on the left is again the replacement where you can see the much bigger and more square mounting block.

I'd also be interested in an SSS pick guard too, to replace the original that was altered to fit a Roland synth.

Happy to pay a reasonable price and shipping. Thanks!

Nick, sounds like you should email EBMM customer service to see if they can help you out.

Maybe if they don't have the parts, they can suggest some thing to use as replacement.

Pickguard you might be able to get thru Pickguard Heaven or one of the other places that does after market pickguards.

Good luck, Glenn |B)

Thanks, Glenn, I was in touch with customer service when I first bought the guitar, but apparently they don't have any remaining stock of the nut lock. I thought I'd try here as I don't seem to be able to track one down online - and, besides, I'm not even sure of the supplier or brand.

As far as the pick guard goes, I'm about to order up from pick guard world, but thought it was worth a shot here first. Thanks again - much appreciated!

Hi Nick
Pickguard's not much of a problem but that hardware might be difficult to find?

You may try bumping this every 3 - 4 weeks (not like on some f/b sites where people bump every few hours - it doesn't work like that here). If you continue to get no response here then other sites will have to be used I guess.

I'm suffering a bit myself requiring two small pieces of hardware for a 60's Bristish guitar (Watkins Rapier) but alas I can't track them down - one day they'll turn up though !! Good luck.

Feel free to post some more pictures though!!! :D

Nick,

That string lock is a Schaller-made part, but it was also used by Fender on their MIJ "Contemporary" models that used what they called the "System 1" tremolo. There is a Kahler parts supplier called wammiworld - sorry, I can't link to their site because it's blocked were I'm at right now - and look on their "Fender System 1" parts page and see if they have the proper string lock parts.

Thanks all - very helpful information. I've already made plans for a replacement pick guard and the guitar plays great with the new, slightly wrong part, but I'll hope something turns up. Thanks especially to John C - I'll check out the Fender System 1 part of Wammi world - I would have had no idea to check the Fender parts section, so appreciate your comments.

And thanks Spudmurphy too - it's good to know I'm not the only one who likes my EBMM and idiosyncratic British guitars of the 1960s - my Silo is currently sitting next to my Burns Baby Baldwin, which is strung up with extra heavy flat wounds. Perhaps as far away as you can get from the playability of the Silo, but sounds great. And I'm missing a tremolo arm for that too…!

Thanks again all.

And if you'd like to see some pictures of it, check out the Official Pics of My guitar thread post #3199. It's currently on the last page.
Cheers!
