Hey there..I might be doing a trade and getting a 1977 Stingray II. I'm a huge Fender fan so there is the collectablility issue, but how are they as players? Anything I should look at for in particular? Its a natural finish. Are these active guitars? i.e. take a 9v battery?
Thanks

Hi. If the Stingray's are the same as the Sabre's, then the Stingray 1 would have a fretboard radius of 12" (304.8mm) and jumbo frets, and the Stingray 2 would have a 7.1/2" (190.5mm) radius fretboard with regular frets.

Hope this helps.

If i win the lottery (and the wife doesn't find out), i'll be looking out for one myself, and another Sabre 2 :D

With the Sabre 2 i have, the 'normal' output range is from 1 to 1/2 way on the volume, above that to full volume setting increasingly overloads the output. I use a distortion patch with my GT3 processor, and only using the guitar volume, i get a clean sound at volume 1 to 2. Upto volume 5 setting increases the distortion sound to what you would expect. Go above 5 to maximum increasingly overloads the distortion level and all the lovely sustain that goes with it. :D

With the active pickups, the tone does not change when you change the volume. So the sweet tone you have stays with you wherever you take it.

If you do get it please post a picture in the umm.. post a pic of your guitar section :)
