also i got a bud who lives in england now who owns both a OLP MM1 FR and the original MM 1(fender tailpiece type) and he tells me that the original MM1 sounds much better
makes sense to me because OLP used the ibanez trem route
on the MMFR1 instead of the regular floyd route like on the axis or EVH
see the ibanez route as i call it requiers more wood to be removed around the bridge and effects the overall tone of the guitar even unplugged

i like my trem to rest against the body.

I just recently bought an OLP off eBay for $100.
It's one of the original MM1's, however this one doesn't have a photofilm top.
It's solid black with binding, which I like.

I purchased an original Floyd Rose trem with a D-tuna for $125 off ebay a few days later and installed it on my OLP. I spent the next few days giving the neck a tung oil treatment and making adjustments. Now that I've added the Floyd, the guitar no longer has that "toyish" feel it did when I first got it. It's also a little heavier, but still very well balanced. And it stays in tune!

Total cost ... $225 (plus shipping)

I won't lie and say these guitars are perfect right out of the box.
But with a good setup, and a little "break-in" time, these guitars are definately the best deal out there.

It's a GREAT guitar for me because I love to "tinker".
I plan on doing alot of other modifications as well.
Some simple things like adding pearl tuner buttons.
I'm seriously considering installing a sustainer and relocating the toggle ala EVH.
I've always wanted a sustainer, but would never dream of doing that sorta thing to my EBMM EVH. This is the perfect guitar to experiment with.

dino is right they are great guitars for the money. i have a evh that dosent get played and 4 olps and a axis. now since i got my axis i havent picked up the olp's but they are great and they are great for doing little things to. i want to do one up like the ebmmevh that ebmm striped for him and put a sustainer in one also. you cant beat this guitar if you dont have the cash for a ebmm.
