I saw this and thought that with a few mods it might be a very reasonable version of a Silhouette Special. I've read some of your posts about cheapo traveling guitars and thought that it might be nice to have something similar to leave here at work for rainy days and such.

Music 123 has this puppy for like $220 :) before shipping. Not to shabby in my opinion.

The way I look at it, remove the pickguard and I bet the cavities are there for the other pickups. Get a new pickguard and switch and tada, cheap Silhouette Special.

I was thinking that maybe some EMG's or something along those lines migth be nice.

For an amp I've been using this, you may laugh, but it works for what I need and fits in the case without any trouble.

Just my thoughts. :)

Yah know Orange I was thinking the exact samething on the way home after I wrote that.

But I was thinking either mother-of-pearl ot abalone (spelling) would look cool. Maybe even drill out the plastic dots and replace them with the same.

No I think I want to do this, do this sound crazy?? I've never moded a guitar let alone taken one apart. But hey, I guess there has to be a first time for everything huh.

Well just have to wait and see.

Oh yah I'm with you there. Put in a ncei block or something like that.

Yah I have a feeling that it would be sweet and I think I might give it a try. I was talking to wife about it, I have a bday coming up and my kids would love to give me a guitar they would love it.

Guess I better start doing some research and pricing things like, pickups, switches and pickguards.

Hey guys, I'm an OLP dealer as well and I have just talked to my rep the other day concerning the OLP Benji model (I've been waiting for my shipment of them for months now!) and there are some changes you might like. Nobody should have them in stock right now because Benji made some personal changes to the original design. It will be at least another 90 days before they are available:

1) 12th fret "Benji" is gone with, I believe, a pearl inlay with brass knuckles
2) Matching green headstock
3) Headstock logo on front now says something to the effect of " OLP designed by ErnieBall/MusicMan.

Dont know how much this raises the price if any. But the good thing to know here is that OLP does really work with the artists.
The Petrucci model should be out within 3 or 4 weeks.

Bassplyr,

Bummer!! :( I'm not much for matching headstocks and that's what drew me to the Benji model, well that and the fact that it's a Silhouette body.

Music 123 says they have them in stock, so we'll have to wait and see.

Music-Guru, you don't like OLP??? Did you have problems with them or something. I mean I know that it's not an EB/MM, but still they don't seem like bad beaters.
