Hi, I don't know if OLP thread is allowed here but I do have some questions and I really need help.

2 weeks ago I saw a used OLP Luke for cheap and decided to get it for a backup of my EBMM Luke. I noticed that the finish is indeed AWESOME!!...

The tuning machines hold pretty good and the nut is pretty ok. The electronics is a little bit weird (500K Pots for active circuits?? never see that, but it sounds great though, it came pretty close with the EMGs so I'm pretty happy..:D )

Now the problems lies on the bridge. The bridge really..and I mean REALLY!! feels cheap. The saddles and the mounting studs feels like it was made out of plastic. The base plate is pretty thick and sturdy though, no complains about that one. The tremolo block though....it is a really typical small little blocks that often used for Chinese guitars.

The unit is working but it doesn't feel smooth so I am actually thinking about changing the whole unit. Anybody here has any suggestion for a replacement unit that doesn't require a re route on the body? I would hate to re route the body since the finish is soooooo great...:)

any suggestion? thank you

additional question

does anyone has any opinion on whether to change the whole unit or to change just the tremolo block and the saddles??

Hey there-

I don't think you're going to find many people that have experience with the OLP Luke, and even fewer that have actually swapped in another trem.

My advice would be to take the measurements and email some of the aftermarket companies (wilkinson, etc) to see what fits.

Good luck!

yes, after doing some research, I found that OLP Luke is less popular compared to OLP JP, I wonder if there any reason behind this though :D..

anyway thank you so much for your reply, I will still hoping that there is anybody out there who has the experience with OLP Luke though, thank you again..:)

Hi there I have a Red OLP Luke and you are right the finish is great very pretty guitar, I also agree with you that the trem sucks big time Ive been looking for the past few years to try and find a suitable bridge that is simular to a musicman Luke but not much joy there, so what im going to do is quite radiqual but it will be a one of a kind sort of, im going to get the same gotoh Floyd Rose trem thats on a mk1 luke and get that fitted, ive just instald a set of luke emg's which has made it sound just like my official luke:D i love my mk1 luke with the floyd and always wished that there was more colours of that version made so in around about way im getting that ;)
