Howdy;
Newbie to the EB forums, but some of you might recognise my handle from TalkBass or DudePit. I just scored this OLP MM2 off ebay, and want to mount a second pickup in the neck position. Can someone please tell me what string spacing is at the poles on the stock pickup? I'd measure myself, but it will be a week or so before it's in my hands. I can't just call Nordstrand and ask, because I want to throw a DarkStar in there, and it's not really the same thing. Pic of bass and DarkStar attached. I hope throwing a non EBMM pickup in doesn't seem like heresy to you guys;)

String spacing on a Stingray is about 18.5 mm (measured between string centres) at the pole pieces. It's narrower in the neck position though, with the string spacing being 17 mm at the 21st fret. Obviously it depends where you want to put the second pickup, but I'd say you're looking at 17.5 mm for a neck pickup.

Distance from body (well, top of pick guard) to bottom of string is around 11 mm.

No idea how comparable this is with an OLP.

The spacing for the poles on the OLP, Nordstrand, and Ernie Ball Stingray pickup is 3/4". The string spacing at the pickup on an OLP is 24.5/32". The string spacing about halfway between the neck and bridge pickup is 24/32". The distance from the bottom of the string to the pickguard halfway between the neck and bridge pickup on an OLP with the string fretted at the 21st fret is 10/32". The string height can vary substantially from bass to bass depending on how it is set up. All measurements are approximate.
