That's a bummer, Rob.
But you should be glad it's "only" the black backside. A good luthier should be able to refinish that. I've had a similar thing with one of my strats and after the repair there was just some kind of tiny crack left but the surface was brilliant.

Rob, sorry to hear that.

My luke also just got a ding too, just a tiny little one.
I didn't make it, my tech did. :(

Rob, Ouch! I've been there and done that, so I feel for you.

At the time I hurt this Pacific Blue Burst, it was my baby...but life does go on.

i know i know, i did it on the day I got it, matter of hours. I'm am the king tool of the universe. Its on the upper back/side of the Luke, the top isnt affected.

here's a pic, ive been too upset to post the pics so far, it was terrible when it happened! I'm over it now though, a few days have passed, i guess its mine forever now. "Is this the way its gonna be forever now...." ( for the aussies)

Could that not be fixed rather easily?

S4it! what a hijack R2!! - But man I feel for ya.

As has been said - a real good guitar builder will be able to hide most of that.

I wish I could introduce you to "my man" over here in Wales - he's not cheap but he's a great builder/refinisher/tech.

PS You Aussies gonna win any more gold medals??

Glad to hear everything turned out ok.
That happened to my Axis about a year ago.
I tripped over the cord and sent her face down on the hard woord floor:eek:

The toggle switch broke the fall but in process was pushed into the body and had to be replaced..

Small price to pay when you consider it could have been the finishthat took the fall

i'm leaving it for the moment, i havent thought about getting fixed, probably wont, whats the point??

well, it's possible that with the chunk that is now missing, air can get to the surrounding layers and possibly make the blemish worse... personally I'd get the area filled in/repaired. it could be taken to a luthier and evaluated without cost, most likely.

my dos centavos senor...

My mate had some superb repair work done on an old (really) beat-up EVH here in Perth.

Restored it to nearly new condition.

If you ever get REALLY desperate, you can send it over here and I'll sort it out for you ?

Seriously mate, I can send the guy pics etc and see what charges / time / success he thinks he will have ?
