Sound Control in Glasgow have a Bongo 4HH coming up to them for me to try.I was left a message on the phone today saying it'll be here tomorrow.I dont know what finish it is and it'll be the weekend before I get up to the store.

A few questions for Bongo owners.

1/Should I try a 4HS before jumping in?
2/Does the HH sound more full on than the HS?
3/Why would I want a single H one?
4/Is the EQ voiced the same on the H,HS and HH?
5/Do all Bongos come with a case?
6/Any pics of teal pearl?
7/Question for UK punters - from your own experience, any problems getting Strings & Things to send up another if I want to try a different model?

I've seen a couple of Bongos hanging up on walls but I've never tried one hence the questions.

anyway,a Bongo will be mine within the week:D

Late/early post but I work nightshifts and have access to a PC:)

cheers

Haven't I answered this before?

Yes?

But you just can't resist, can you?

1/Should I try a 4HS before jumping in?

Well YEAH, if you can. If there is a Bongo to play, you should play it, no matter what the configuration.

2/Does the HH sound more full on than the HS?

I think it's a bit beefier when using the neck pickup, yes.

3/Why would I want a single H one?

Because it's the Secret Weapon. Because BP says you're a girl if you don't play one. Because I have one. Or two, I think. Because you're a rebel! You refuse to conform to these silly societal norms! Because you point them at the crowd and they - bass and crowd - make big good sounds.

4/Is the EQ voiced the same on the H,HS and HH?

Your only choices are 'stun' or 'kill'.

5/Do all Bongos come with a case?

Yes.

6/Any pics of teal pearl?

What do I look like, Foggy?

I've never had an HS Bongo but I have had the other two. I don't know why but I liked the tone of the single H more and found it easier to find all of the tones I wanted compared to the HH. I didn't believe all of the people that said things like that until I tried it.

The EQs are voiced the same but the single H only has treble, mids and bass (a 3 band EQ). The HH has treble, low mids, high mids, and bass (a 4 band). So you can get more control of mids on the HH or HS only.

They are both great basses though. Everyone should try a Bongo of every flavor at least once!

I think I'd probably get a H, or HP.

Really hope you like it though! I'd like a full report once you've played it - I've got GAS to fuel :D

Buy first think later. :D

That usually works for me.

One thing with this strategy, it'll give you a reason to buy another Bongo later.

No, that will only confuse you. Get the HH, then start planning for your second (and third) Bongo.

2/Does the HH sound more full on than the HS?
I have no idea, as the only two Bongos I have played are the ones I own.
3/Why would I want a single H one?
Because Sterling says so.
4/Is the EQ voiced the same on the H,HS and HH?
Amazing, a question I can actually answer. YES, but on the H the 4-band is an option (3 band is standard)
5/Do all Bongos come with a case?
Another one I know. YES, nowadays they do.
6/Any pics of teal pearl?
Say thank you to Little horse person http://s34.photobucket.com/albums/d106/EBMMColour/Solids/Teal Pearl/

As your silly societal NorM, I don't see this as a bad thing.
