Hi guys. I'm interested in adding an onboard preamp/booster circuit on my JP. What does the booster on JP13 sound like, are they flat or do they boost/cut certain freq?
Are there any aftermarket product similar to the one used on JP13?
I often use OD pedal to push my amp's drive channel. So far I've found that even "true bypass" pedal change my tone a bit from the added cable length, buffered pedal (BOSS) are even worse. I wonder if onboard units might sound more transparent.

It took me a while to appreciate that feature on my JP13. I would say it is very transparent. I'm curious as to what that pre-amp would sound through the CL/LF set. When I first got my 13, I wasn't as happy with the tone of the pickups and used my BB Preamp to boost as opposed to the built in preamp. However, this guitar has grown on me quite a bit and don't even use my OD pedals for boost anymore.

Just in case anyone wanted to try the BECOS Preamp - I just had one installed on a 2008 JP6 on the tone pot (i didn't realise the volume was a 250k so the preamp I had could only be installed as a tone replacement (keeping it as transparent as possible). The preamp is great - its fully adjustable and as a push push pot, its easy to activate and the bypass is a true bypass too. Highly recommended. preamp3.jpg preamp4.jpg
