I have purchaced more than 30 guitars from the US - the tax part is a 15% on the CANADIAN equivalent of the guitar's declared value for insurance... However, there are also Brokerage Fees, which - when you ship UPS or FedEx - can easily be over $50... My last guitar from the States was my Axis Sport HSS, and it was $164 at the door for taxes and brokerage fees. The Jem 7VWH I bought from a guy in New York a few years back cost me more than $330 cash on delivery! The exchange rate's good right now, so I would guess-timate that on a US$400 guitar shipped UPS Standard Ground, your pay out to the delivery man before you get your new axe will be about $130, maybe a little more...
