Secret: I hate that bass line. It drives me up the freaking wall. So don't expect it to be ME jumping up for that.

I also detest the bass work on Rod Stewart's "Maggie May". Whoever that was, he was drunk and, I suspect, a guitar player.

(Not that there's generally anything wrong with that.)

Hysterical! :D

We've thought about doing this one too - listening closely, I always felt is was a "first cut, that's good enough" effort.

adelucia? do you need to be pinched real hard?, take a urine test?, get smacked in the knee?, have your prostate checked by a man hating woman doctor that can plam a basketball? Did you fall out of your suv and hit your head? Does Flipper have a blow hole? (that one is stolen from luke) ;I dont know maybe you should just skip one of the best limited audience collection of guitarists in the last 10 years?
Well, after an evening of conversation and some deep thought on the subject, I'm afraid I'm back to "an early exit". :(

BP et al, before I am considered a candidate for the aforementioned "man hating woman doctor that can palm a basketball", please let me explain...

My gig for Sunday is our Church sponsored annual picnic - and this year is their 25th Anniversary celebration. We had committed to play prior to my signing on for the Open House, thinking there was no way I could afford the trip this year. Folks in the community are looking forward to it - they have experienced us before. It’s a form of charity that I derive a great pleasure from.

I play with three other guitarists and a drum machine. One guy is my first-cousin and like a brother to me, another guy is one of my dearest friends. These are the kind of guys you do anything for, not just hired-help or casual relations. (I'm real close with the drum machine as well, but that's another story!).

Since I play bass, sing some back-up harmony and program and run the drum machine, there is a significant void in our performance if I am not there. While they've been supportive of my personal interest, my not being there would effectively, well, you know...

On the flip side, and as previously stated, I am most looking forward to meeting the people behind the development and production of the finest bass guitars I've had the pleasure of playing. I want to shake hands with you all, see the inner-workings of the factory and experience, first-hand, how we go from a pile of wood to that beautiful finished product. I want to buy Jon a beer for making my Sterling so sweet I could never consider parting with it, and I want to make merry with the fellow forum folk.

Of course I fully understand the opportunity I am passing-up with respect to the concert - it's killing me. I need to hold true to my commitments and consider the disappointment of those important to me if I were to blow them off. As it stands now, they're a bit nervous about my flying back just in time for our gig and the effect of the red-eye flight on my ability to perform but I'm confident we'll do just fine.

Hope this makes sense... Should there be a "2nd Annual Forum Open House" in the future, I'll have that much more an incentive to return! :)

Let me sing it?

More like force me to sing it. Besides, I only know the harmony part.

I think I remember the words to "Little Sister" and that's about it for my lyrical memory.
