opinion on small rig -->Eden/bagend

I'm setting up a small rig to move easy ,I want the smallest rig with the BIGGEST SOUND but I'll take the portablility over my huge Mesa equipment for now..

I already have a Bagend S15X-D and i want to get the S15-D next for the bottom cab and then either the small Little Mark Markbass head or the tiny Eden WX260 head.. the Eden head only says it is 4ohms but these bagend cabs are 8ohms so could I still run those cabs off the Eden?

as far as Mark bass not sure of the ohms output but I heard it might not be loud enough anyway but I think just 200watts should be plenty for a jam room and small clubs? I'm playing with one guitar player and the standard marshall 100 watt tube head and 60's cab.. my GK400 with 1 15 is loud enough I just want one of these tiny rigs with a big sound set-up to try..


finally I found a little mark 2 for 450.00 is that a good deal? as far as the Eden I haven't checked prices yet--> I've been missing for 2yrs so not sure whats decent lately.... and if theres another good small head I should check out LMK..


please let me know what your opinions are..

the little mark 2 is pretty awesome. at 4 ohms its 500 watts and has plenty of power. and yes, $450 is a good deal. I usually see em used for $500

Little Mark II with a 4 ohm 2x10 cab would be a mighty little portable rig for jam rooms and small venues. Even with an 8 ohm 2x10 it's plenty loud enough to gig in small bars.

Hey Tajue,

first off, I'm no expert, but I do believe that 2x 8 ohm cabs in parallel totals a 4 ohm load , and if you want bigger sound, go for multiple cabs as long as you don't voilate ohm's laws ... you don't necessarily need Big watts to have Big sound, just enough speakers ...

I've peeked into the Eden forum a few times and it may be a good idea for you to sign up and pop your questions over there, from what I've seen, there is plenty of technical expertise especially about Eden gear hanging around that forum and I think they'll give you the info you need ... Recently, I sold off an Eden D112XLT 1x12 8 ohmcab I got last year before falling sick and it was a super cab paired with a TEbigbox 1x15 8 ohm under a TE AH250 watt head total load = 4 ohms and a very Big breathey sound with some great cut and punch to it as well

I have a couple of the small markbass combos ( a 1-12 and 2-10) aand they are fantastic. Plenty loud for what you are looking for.

However, I heard that the new Genz Benz Shuttle that they showed at NAMM is killer too. I'm looking forward to trying one out.

I sold some of my Eden gear since it was the newer generation (translate, does not sound near as good as the original Eden) when I switched to my LMKII. Believe me, it is plenty loud. I have never heard so much sound come from 500 watts. In my opinion, it must really be conservatively rated. I have run it through a small 8 ohm 2X10 in small clubs and had no issues with volume problems.

I have friends that have been raving about the Phil Jones stuff, but I have not tried it yet.

The Mesa Walkabout Scout 12 is an unbelievable 'little' rig.
Sounds 'bigger' than the MarkBass 210 combo I briefly owned.

We had an EDEN D115XL arrive this morning but I have yet to try it out. I've heard good things about EDEN but this will be my first experience.

As long as the Ohm rating of the cab is not less than the Ohm rating on the amplifier you will be fine.

I would think a nice 2x10 paired with a Markbass amp would serve you well. I recently tried ditching the CA-9 lead sled and Kern pre for a gig in favor of my Acme 4ohm Low B2 2x10 and a Markbass SA450 I got from Club Bass in Toronto. I couldn't believe how nice it sounded. In a medium sized room, I could have used no PA support, but in the end at the soundman's preference, went ever so slightly into the PA. My load in weight went from about 100# down to about 40#.

Have you checked out Euphonic Audio? I´ve heard great things about their stuff and my friends on your side of the pond that has tried their stuff out says that they are VERY compact, light weight and sounds great indeed.

A iAmp Micro 300 head with one or two of their 1 x 10´ spekers will take you rather far. The amp weigh no more than 2,5 lbs and delivers 300 Watt. And a 1 x 10´ wizzy speaker weigh around 18 lbs and handles 250 watts. Around 20 lbs for the whole thing in a small back-back. That is a setup I wouldn´t mind.
