Hi Joel

A few months ago I started making and selling some specialist cables and selling them through Ebay here in the UK. For example 1 metre speaker cables using 4mm Kotz cable with Speakons and/or Jacks - great for bass. Also adaptor cables from 2.1mm boss type DC plug/socket to 3.5 mm jack for EH pedals.

I realised I needed a web site so I've just bought www.bassic.co.uk. It'll be up and running later in the year. I don't see it as a huge business but something to top up the pension. Once established I'll be looking to see what other niche bass products I can find.

Joel, I;m not here to piss on your parade, but after being in the music business for 4 years now I have some advice for you to strongly consider: It's human nature that most everyone wants everything for nothing. In fact, musicians tend to be the worst because they are always broke because their girlfriend threw them out or something like that. But anyway what I'm getting at is Musicians Friend/GC is STRONG and E-Bay is even stronger.
Just read how many posts are on this forum of people looking/buying form E-bay. Most times you can't buy the gear cheap enough to match the E-bay or Musicians Friend prices because you and I are too small to get the quantity discounts MF gets. And the list goes on. If you want more info, e-mail me and I'll give you some more things to consider , but this is just the start.
Good luck my friend and if you do have great success, you'll have earned it! Doug

my parade!!!! nooooooo!!!!!

having worke and managed a gc before i know the power of the gc.

i'm not looking to get anywhere near that kind of volume, or that market.

i'm looking to be a liason for people and carry a few special things (custom or boutique cables, harder to get strings, etc).

this is something I will do in addition to work, if it blossoms into something more, great.

i've seen too many small shops swalled by the megachains to want to jump out and start one.

this is one reason I am asking what people use and would like to hve readily available to them.

plus i can buy most anything at GC for their cost, and if i'm reselling, tax free..

also i will be buying and selling used stuff, restoration projects, all that good stuff.

ok, sleep time
joel D.
