I've been searching for my special axe for about 1.5 years now. I've gone through the F--der- and the Gib---s etc.... Ever since I've tried the Music Man Guitars, I've been hooked. The neck on these guitars makes me want to play!

I think I've got my decision narrowed down to the Silhouette Specials or the Steve Morse.

My local shop sparingly carries a couple MMs here and there. The colour choices are therefore made by them! They currently have a Black Sparkle Silhouette w/ black pick guard full maple neck and headstock. Nice guitar, however I don't think that the sparkles would be my first choice!

Now the question is, do I wait another 3-4 months (or more  ) to order my colour of choice, or do I get into the game now an buy one off the wall there or elsewhere???? I am not sure if the one in stock has the piezo which I am leaning towards getting.

Also, if i buy off the shelf than potentially the Axis or Petrucci might be back in the running!?!

This is driving me crazy! I am so dying to play........ HELP!!!!

heres what i would do if i was you. buy the black sparkle silouette, play that for awhile, order a new guitar from a dealer of your choice, use the silo while waiting, then put the silo on ebay and sell it for more than you bought it becuase it has sparkles! if i had money, and that silo was an hsh i would so buy it. but thats me.

Here's my advice.............................

Play every model that you're interested in, then order the exact model and exact color you want, preferably from www.dubaldomusic.com , because they have the best prices, ask for Pete. Just so you know, when you order your guitar from the factory, it is cheaper than from buying one in stock at your local music shoppe.

Sure I've got $3000-4000 kicking around!!

I will undoubtedly end up with many guitars. It's a disease none of us can avoid. :D Right RAZ!!!

I am in Canada so that limits some of my Purchase Place choices.

They have a black Sub 1 there too. But I'm not a fan of the metal strikeplate pick guard.

The Silo they have is an SSH I believe. I think I'll have to go on Monday to mess with it.

Don't mind me. I'm just thinking out loud.

Oh what to do?

Simply due to real estate on the shop wall....a dealer has a tendency to price higher if they just ordered it to hang on the wall, whereas they'll shave the $$$ if they special order. Cud got a great deal on his PRB whereas I paid a lil more mine than he did since it was hanging in the shop for awhile.

Definitely order....you get what you want that way. Or surf ebay.....I got a killer deal on one there.

You could buy the Silo and order the guitar you want, then sell the silo later on ebay, cause the black sparkle is somewhat of a rare color/paint job. Don't know if you want to do it that way.

But l'll tell you this, get a guitar with all the added extras that you want, if you want a piezo on your guitar, get it, theres nothing worse than buying a guitar, waiting 3-4 months, then thinking l should of got the piezo. So just don't buy the Silo for ease. Maybe check ebay, there are always ernie ball guitars on there.

I know you will be more happier with a guitar that you wanted, with the extras you wanted than some guitar that was just sitting there and bought because you couldn't be bothered waiting.

Hope this info helps.

Scott.

Where in Canada? There are a few of us Canadians here, and purchasing EBMM's can be difficult since they won't allow stores (most) to ship to Canada...I am both cursed and blessed for living in Canada...cause if I lived in the USA, I'd be homeless with a shopping cart full of EBMM's...

I am on the edge of Windsor.
Across the River is Detoit. I could go State-side to get it, but what I've seen is that it's cheaper to buy here!?

Thanks for all the opinions everyone. I really do appreciate it.
I'm going to go to the store to see if the "black sparkle" is growing on me. If not, I'll probably order.

it all depends on how paticular you are if you are dead set on every detail like color or a premium top than yes order it and you will get what you want and you might save money but if you are willing to wait and shop around you can catch a sale and save alot more . i stalked my axis for 6 months at guitar center and they finally marked it down to clearence price than i chissled them down even more. but you have to be willing to wait and it might get sold on you but there is always another one that comes along.
