This picture put it over the top for me. There's wood back there!:p The combination the koa, ebony, gold and the burst on the back makes for a super elegant guitar. Got a feeling it's going to be reeeaaalllyy special!

Very tasty, yes, I love the back of it much better than the standard JP BFRs. If they told me I could own any guitar in the world right now, this would be it.

Congrats! Very very nice, well-built professional equipment! Well worth the money compared to the other boutique guitars offered by other brands on the market now. Wise choice and good investment made dude!! ;)

Sweet. I'm ordering mine in 2 weeks when I get paid. You do know that the neck is going to be mahogany and not koa right? Can't wait to order up mine. They're gonna be really special guitars I think.

I ordered mine through Tom at Act 1 Music in Langley last Friday. I don't think he was able to put through the order though until Monday as it was too late then. At least I hope he has....he was supposed to be emailing A.J. I think this will be the best of all the JP's issued so far.

I knew they were mahogany necks...after experiencing a mahogany neck on my new Suhr Modern LE I don't think I'll ever order maple again.

Are you saying the neck in this pic is koa?

All the KOA offerings are totally awesome!

I'd love to have a Silo or Al in KOA.

I believe the neck in that pic is Koa. Go to page 35 of the Ball Family Reserve sticky and it should have the Koa JP there and states that the neck is Koa.

Edit: Saved ya some searching. Here's the link: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/mus...al-ball-family-reserve-picture-thread-35.html

Want some frontal nudity!

I like how the neck is painted so as to look as though there's playing wear. Very tastefully done.

Let me see if I have the average Joe version of this guitar correct:

Mahogany body & neck (no tone block)
Ebony board
Gold parts
Koa top
Inlays
Piezo

Anyone know how many of these are going to be made? Is it a limited run, or standard offering for BFR?

An actual amount hasn't be predetermined. The amount that are made will depend on basically supply and demand. It's definitely a limited offering for as long as Koa can be sourced at affordable prices as I believe it is now a protected species or certainly one that has some pretty stringent harvesting restrictions.
