those are tough choices. To help make things tougher have you considered BD w/ abalone?

Norm:

I saw some pics here with BD and abalone...unconventional, but very nice. It works together very well. On this one, thought, I'm leaning toward something with some shade of grey in it.

Thanks for the input,
GH

Natural.

With maple fretboards I like non-matching better, but would definitely choose matching with a rosewood board

Agreed on both counts, especially with the darker solid colors and maple fretboards. I have a HoneyBurst ASS with maple board and matching headstock that looks great, but I'm less certain about doing that with CBP or GP.

Love this!

GH, you mentioned tort shell. Here's a couple combos I've used.

Candid, those both look great. I especially like the white pups ad knobs on tort on Blue Pearl.

Thanks,

Candid....those look really nice...I'm really starting to like the tort pickguards!

Guitar Hack, have you considered desert gold? We just order a desert gold with black ice pickguard and a candy red with black perloid pickguard.

How about desert gold with tort???? anyone have a picture of that?

Hey Jeff, DG was on the shortlist. Those combos sound great, too. But, I have guitars in amber, Honeyburst, TransRed, Vintage SB, Rad Red, and I really am leaning toward something different from the yellow/red part of the wheel. For me, that came down to a silver/gray/blue type combo, so I have narrowed it down to:

Carbon Blue Pearl + Abalone -OR- Graphite Pearl + Abalone

I'm glad I posted this thread, I hadn't considered Abalone with GP (was looking at Moonstone), but some of the pics posted with Abalone swung me that way.

I'm placing the order on Friday, and I still haven't decided. Almost everyone I asked outside the forum (including the wife) voted CBP, but the GP is really calling to me. A couple people have said, GP guitar + abalone PG + rosewood + matching headstock equals one dark-ish colored guitar. So, I'm still stewing.

Friday is the day...:):):). Either way, I don't think I can go wrong.

Thanks,
GH

BTW, what enables me to involve my wife in the the purchase of this HSS Silo w/ piezo, when I already have an HSS, is a STANDING OFFER from one of the guys I work with to purchase my current HSS whenever I want to sell it. He's a lifelong F***er guy, and played with my Silo in the office for about an hour, unplugged. Yes, he offered to buy the guitar w/o playing it through an amp! He said that judging by the feel, and the way it resonates, he doesn't even need to hear it through an amp.

So, the wife automatically assumes I'll sell my current one when I receive the new one. But, I never said that I would! However, it does give me cover with the wife. She's assigning a level of sanity to me that I haven't earned :)
