I saw TOOL at Hammersmith recently - immense band but why does JMK stay in the dark all show?

Great event though

I've heard plenty about Tool but never actually any Tool. Can anybody recommend a starter album?

I'd get Aenima for a start. I saw them here in Austin in July '02 and it was a very good show. My daughter (who was 18 at the time) is a big fan of theirs.

+1 for Opiate, Undertow has the absolute classics of Prison Sex and Sober..their real break through tracks.

for mine AEinma is one of the greatest albums of my generation.

Tool are in australia in january $115 for tix :O its in the same week as Big Day Out and a cricket one dayer... so it could be a very expensive week for me.

I think you should get AEinma. It's pretty much their Breakthrough album. I don't think you can go wrong with the two most recent albums either.
Agreed for someone your age. For an old goat like me Undertow was their breakthrough album. I saw them at Lollapalooza 1993 and at the time Sober was all over radio/MTV. I also agree that their 2 newest records are great though.....

I thought that the "Tool" show was a band featuing our banned members...with some new Uk'er's
:D :D
hey, atleast they're not French .....ooooooooo

anywho, the show was AMAZING!!!!!! Tool is truly the best prog/metal band of our time, hands down. no discussion! :p

very cool minimal set;as in the staging; and it was a rippin' loud show with lasers to boot. hehehehehehehe

they are still using Balls right BP?? Adam Jones had the most massive LayPaul sound I think I've ever heard, a tone that I think Page was wanting  still no Silo but it wasn't bad ;)

I must admit that I think a Bongo would have done Justin a bit more justice in the mix though, I think you should start the conversion by sending him a Bongo pre in an outboard box BP, for him to throw in his signal chain and then slowly hit him up with... "so you want your tone to reeeeally be as mean as you guys think you are??" :D

ahhhhh..... now to cram the last coupl'a fills for tomorrow's gig, from Don Ho to Switchfoot and Michael Buble in between...... gonna be a weird 45min.

Funny how there was a suggestion on a "starter" Tool CD and ALL of them were mentioned at one point. Simply, all their CD's are awesome....great band with great talent.
