Just curious, but do any of you guys happen to use the Keeley Modded DS-1's with your EB's? If so how do you like them? I have a chance to pick one up for a great price and thought I'd see if any of you guys use em. Thanks in advance.

Awesome Rob, thanks for the info. I'm gonna try the DS-1 out anyway, and if I don't like it I guess I could throw it up on the good old ebay.

I used to have one that I used on my jp.
But I must say that it does cover up the sound a bit too much.
It worked fine with my ibanez, but when I got the MM I decided to change

Are you talking about the older DS-1 Seeing Eye mod or the Ultra mod?
I have Keeley's DS-1 Ultra and you can switch between the two mods with a toggle switch. I don't really like the Seeing eye mod that much, but Ultra mod sounds awesome to me.

Ultra Mod with switch.
I'm not saying that it didn't sound good, but I prefere a warmer sound, the ds1 isn't exactly what I would call warm.
But it's great for hard rock

I've been on a boost hunt, in a sense, for a while now. The Keeley DS-1, TS-9 and Katana are all very valid options.... I just wish I could test them out side by side.

I have the DS-1 with the Ultra Mod and this is one of the best distortion pedals EVER!
If you prefer a smoother sound, this may not be your cup of tea, but if you're into great Hard Rock or Metal tones, this thing totally nails it.

I have the option of switching between seeing eye mode and ultra mode, which makes this thing really versatile and it suits my Luke perfectly.

try a Keeley Blues Driver. Picked one up from a friend of mine for a great price and LOVE it. It's a nice overdrive pedal but can get nasty if you need it to.

Another option if you like smooooth. Comes with 4 op-amps, including an original NOS JRC4558D, installed.

I got it in a Maxon (who made the original TS's) because it already comes with true bypass, which is otherwise about a $30 mod.

I have a vintage (1985 japan) DS-1 which I found too boomy.

I modded it myself with a Monte Allums kit and the difference is fantastic. It's great. I use it with the distortion cranked for hard rock solos, crunch rhythm etc. Using the humbucker in my Sill Special it sounds great.

For overdrive I use a Boss SD-1 (as yet unmodded) and an MI Audio Blues Pro.

For people like me,who don't live in the USA, the Monte Allums mod kits are great.. not too expensive and not hard to do. I just yesterday modded by MXR Dyna Comp (vintage) and it took me an hour.
