OT: Break in period

Hey guys
Just got my new rig LMII and a Traveler 102P
I was wondering
How should i Properly Break in a this rig?
and for how long?

so far ive been playing with it with all the dials flat
master and gain only at 1/4 (9oclock) of the way up
0 vle and vlp
for about 8 hours so far this week

I've never heard of a break-in period on an amp...curious.

oh ok i was just curious...
i know with like my noise canceling headphones there was a breakin period so
was assuming amps and speakers would be similar?

ah, the infamous "break-in period". Being a former audiosnob, I'm well aware of it and the controversy it sparks. Many people have different opinions. Some rooted in fiction. From my physics background and long standing love of all things stereo, here are my observations:

Amps: turn them on, wait for circuit to stabilize. In the modern day of transistors should take no more than a few seconds. No sparks, no smoke, no flame, all it is good. Mission Accomplished.

Speakers: Now here you got something with a mechanical suspension (the spider and the surround) straight from a factory. So it could probably be stiff and needs help loosening up. Best way to break it in: Play. And i don't mean play like you are afraid to knock the china off the wall. You want to PLAY LIKE YOU ARE GODZILLA THROWING THAT FINE CHINA DOWN TO BE STOMPED ON BY YOUR GODZILLAN FEET. Don't play like Pete Seeger, play like you are Tom Cruise throwing on the Bob Seeger after the parents have left for the weekend. Get out the vinyl, get out the beer, crank it up and tear it loose! ya ive never broken in an amp of cab. like tom said - i just plug and play... and play loud. never had anything bad happen

Ya, moving parts will need a break-in peroid, but we're talking nuances, and I've never ever worried about it when it comes to bass cabs.

I actually never cared about break-in time with any solid state amp. But it's true that there's always quite a big lap of time between when I put the power on and when I start to play, especially live or even on rehearsal.

For shoes it takes me about a week to break in a pair. Every EBMM bass I've ever bought needed no break in time.

Never heard of a break in period for amps or basses...
But if it makes you happy, follow the most complicated instructions you can find on the interent. It most likely won't hurt the amp!

i was a lil nervous taking it out for the first time but...

the lmII + traveller 102P sounded amazing
im loving it.. LONG TIME

Had a look inside the booklets that came with my Eden stack. (The owners manual)
It says: WARNING!: Break-period.
"We recommend that you use your Eden cabinet at low to moderate volume levels for approximately 2 hours before using it in a high volume situation.
This will allow the voice coils to seat themselves"

Ah well. Depends on the person what to call a low or moderate volume level of playing.
It will be for the next cabinet I guess.
