hey guys,

i am rly excited because my favourite band of all time, the red hot chili pepeprs are coming back to australia for the first time since 2002, and now im 18 so i can see it :D

but i have a dilema. I rly rly rly rly rly want to buy tickets for the chili bowl (the mosh pit area at the front of the stage) but i have been told by some people that a mosh at a chili peppers could get pretty wild and that i might have trouble holding my own because i am of a very slim build.

so i would love any your advice on the matter. if any of you have experience with such things at chili peppers concerts or other concerts and could give me advice as to what tickets i should buy (mosh pit or seated) then i would very much appreciate it.

Are you serious? If so, all I can say is, I saw them here in the UK, their newer material (which is pretty much all they played... the "hits") is not particularly fast, and from what I saw (I was "relatively" near the front, though still managed to get pelted with a few plastic coke bottles) the "mosh pit" crowd (if you could even call it that) was pretty tame. Then again, maybe you Australians are a bit CRAZIER than we are. I"m pretty sure you can get "standing" tickets and still avoid the chaos that is "the front".

I've been in some insane mosh pits myself, but then again I was never a skinny 18 year old! If you really like the band, then go for it, get as close as you can/dare!

I saw Fear Factory and Children of Bodom live (back in my "angry kid" days) and I can't imagine ANY pits getting any more intense than those. I was being tossed around like a ragdoll because at the time, I was 16, 5' 5", and 120 lbs and I was moshing with some guys that were over 7'. Go have fun man. :)

Funny thing about GWAR....my mom went to see them (my brother is friends with them) and my mom was right in front of the singer and came out drenched in the stage blood and other articles. Mom has pics with them and it is funny seeing her with these guys. She said they were really super cool and had a ball. I'll see if I can get one of the pics and post it.

To answer the question of the thread....Chili Pepper shows are tame as far as "mosh pits" go in my opinion. If you are getting beat down....move to the back where it is "safer" and you can catch a breather.

Nice one Koogs, I'd love to see that pic! Not exactly a "take your parents along" kind of concert, but I have a feeling your mom isn't "typical" (in the coolest sort of way)! I have many a blood-drenched photo of myself from "back in the day", ha-ha.

When people meet my mom....they see where I get my sense of adventure. She is my best friend and was the one who got me into Heavy Metal and what not. She rocks. Yeah, she had fun......

Speaking on Fugazi-

About 5 years ago, I had a chance to see Fugazi play in Louisville, Ky. I'm pretty sure that's fairly rare as they usually only play in the DC area. They were playing to save some old theatre House that was in risk of being torn down. Anyways, it was freak'n amazing. They were so tight and my favorite part is when they had their roadie come out and play a second drum set so they had two going at once. They were doing all kinds of crazy syncopated rhythms and the room sounded fantastic. Wow what a show.

I've seen Fugazi play a few times in Toronto "back in the day" and they never put on a bad show, definitely some of the most energetic concerts I've ever been to. And every time they came up to Canada they would always play homeless benefit gigs, so you could get in at a discounted price by bringing in some canned goods. Big props for that.

get in the pit. its not as bad as it looks... if you stay on the edges worst case is people bash into you sometimes so be a bit alert.

even if youre in the pit if you fall will pick you up and make sure you're ok.... its not that bad
