For humans, fear of most animals is taught. Not instinctive. Theoretically we have evolved that far.
A lot of the stuff he did was dangerous but his message was to teach about animals. I loved his passion and enthusiasm and learning about animals. Especially snakes.

My company does a lot of work for his zoo here in Queensland. We've been talking to some of his staff today and they said that even though they are all in a daze they still opened for business as that's what he would have wanted.

Apparently there was heaps of people just lined up to go in leaving flowers and crying.

Amazing to think that a "knockabout larrakin" from Australia can have such a big effect on the world.

A sad day in so many ways.

What a great gentleman, big heart and big impact on the world. His like only come round once in a while.
Sad news indeed, he died doing what he enjoyed and the world will be a little duller with out him.
The media frensy will pass and his family will know how much respect Stevo garnered in the world.
State funeral I say.....he deserves it.

It seems that Brocky wrapped his car around a tree during the Targa West rally today. Strange and ironic that both Steve Irwin and Brocky died doing what they love. In some respects that's probably better than going in a different manner :(

reminds me of when dale earnhardt died: terrible tragedy for a life deliberately lived dangerously.

my thoughts go to his children who'll grow up without a father.
