ok, was faced with the decision last night.

you wake up, apartment building is on fire, what do you grab?


i grabbed my wal bass, my guinea pig, and my wife (not in that order).

luckily my stuff is ok, little smokey, stinky, wet, but in all ok.

anyone else faced with that "you've got 30 seconds" deal.



im holed up in the hampton inn right now, the middle of my apartment building was gutted by fire...

i'll post a pic if anyones interested.

Nope, never been there (yet). Glad to hear everything is OK, or at least it could have been a lot worse.

Here's a question or two for you though. What was the order?

I'm assuming the wife was grabbed in the order we all would have.

If you took the wal before the Hampster, you're an unfeeling, materialistic cad.

But if you took the Hamster before the Wal, you're a girly man.

And of course you took all before any EBMM products!
 
All the basses I have with me in Indonesia are replaceable (they're either still being made or are readily available used), which was the main criteria for which ones I brought with me, since there is always a risk of having to evacuate the country at short notice. If I was back in Australia with the rest of my herd, the first bass to grab would be my '76 fretless Stingray. And the missus.
 
My take on it (with 30 seconds to get out of Dodge) is, screw the basses, lives are far more important.

But if there's time, I'd grab my black SR4 in a heartbeat! It's my main bass and the one I'm most attached to.
 
it went like this:

firealarm goes off, get the wife up, grab clothes, run out, wife has the pig, i grab the wallet and purse (Always have ID), then I ran in to save the bass which i deemed irreplacable. I wasn't in immediate danger otherwise i would have said forget it.

it was a scary situation, really.

my bongo is in shipping right now, and Im hoping i'll be able to get back in the apartment before fedex tries to deliver it and ends up leaving it on the doorstep.

Glad youre okay Joel. Thats a tough spot to be in. Whats really important is that you and the wife are doing well.

God forbid that it would ever happen - glad you are all OK.

Fotunately my wife's cooking constantly checks that the smoke alarm continues to function!!!
 
Whoa, Joel, glad to hear things are okay.

My list?

1. Throw wife and child out of window.
2. Flame Bongo. Okay, all the other basses are right there, too, and they're easy to toss if they're cased.
3. German Porn stash.
4. Voodoo dolls.
5. Heinz Mustard stuffed doll.
