So its Friday night and i should be out going crazy and breaking laws but im not.

So tonight im writing code for one of my many web side-projects.

Earlier i spent a bunch of hours putting myself thru bass bootcamp too. I got the "Rock Discipline" DVD a week ago and that video is killer for guitar so ive taken JP's lead and have been making up a bunch of excercises up for myself for bass practice. Man, its rediculous how unlimitted the number of things you can work on is. Its crazy. After a a while of going over painful left hand fingering patterns i randomly decided to play as if i didnt have an index finger and that was pretty fun and challenging ... some of those fast fills i play like cake turned into nightmares.

so anywho ... what you guys up to tonight?

im back to writing some code now ... my .com millions await

Well, I changed the pickguard and strap buttons on the brand spankin' new white SR4. Then I played it for a while and was unhappy, to a certain extent. I think what I have decided is this:

The roundwounds are okay on a 3 band Stingray.

Not on a 2 band. So then I found some strings (flats, natch) that had been on my Sterling, which was maybe two years ago, so I switched out the strings and played some rockin' good stuff, walking bass lines, Elvis Costello and Lyle Lovett, and decided that the new bass actually rocks.

Then I helped the spousal unit with some graphics.

Now I'm in the studio, listening to Buddy and Julie Miller and sorta plunking on the new bass.

Oh yeah, it's definitely there. But you know how it is...you gotta play it live to really figure it out. So far, though, it's a great bass, and nowhere near 17 pounds, heh heh.

You figure out your color and we'll hook you up, Arin.

I'm still up from hosting last night's jam night and working today...with 4 hours sleep in between. Just checked my cell phone messages...another gig in the works for tomorrow night.

It's great to be a hit-man!

well, being me day off, and having no band right now (maybe something lined up next week, i'll let you know.

me and the wife spent the day together, I got the new PS2 game "shadow of the collosus" which is bad ass..

then we went to red robin, ate a a-1 peppercorn burger with steak fries and milk shake (was that my heart stopping? no...no it was something else).

then we saw doom, which was fuggin rad if your a fan of the game, and even if your not.

not exactly like the games plot, but still pretty cool.

now i'm home, pluckin on the bonger and relaxing.

ahhh... twas a nice day, no trauma.

I'm at home nursing a strained neck. Went over the bars on my last Wednesday night ride. Pulled a headplant 270. Supposed to be racing tomorrow but decided against it. Not sleeping to well because everytime I move I get a rude awakening  . Bodies getting older and the stupid stuff I pull seems to affect me more and more. Should be downing liquid muscle relaxants but I don't even feel like doing that  .

That's quite an inefficient use of time. to save time, try consolidating all your beer time into one chunk of "super" beer time, there's no reason to put off beer whilst waiting for the little woman to make dinner, she can make it while you drink beer aand search the forums!

think about it!

that's 3 more blocks of time that could be spent bass playing! or running from terrorists! or playing ultimate spiderman on your xbox while wearing the "no fat chicks" shirt and drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon!

time to go to work.

Finally working on a new song in DADGAD. Been pretty dry since mid July.
Only played about an hour of git the last 3 weeks hoping to come back refreshed.
Seems to have worked.
May record this and send to Tommy eventually.

Friday night I went to a friends house for a dinner party to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the battle of Trafalgar - where Nelson beat the living cr*p out of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Frenchies.

In fact I'm off to another celebration of the same event in a couple of minutes.

If I die when I'm 64 then I've reached middle age. Too many biking accidents adding up. That and a decade worth of carrying a sousaphone. You guys complain about 10lbs on your shoulder. Try 30-40lbs day after day for 10 years. Where's my advil?
