Hi, Everbody!

Just confirmed at practice last night that my humble little band has been asked to open for Foghat (anybody remember them?) this weekend in front of a few thousand people (estimates are 1,000 to maybe 8,000, but who knows?).

It's the biggest gig I have had in quite sometime, to say the least, so I am pretty phreakin' psyched :D

They are opening a new and rather large Harley dealership about 10 miles down I-95 from us. The owner likes us, for some odd reason, so he's asked us to play for about an hour and a half to warm up for Foghat. So we've dubbed ourselves "The Knuckleheads" for the occassion in honor of the motorcycle engine and the 3 Stooges, and we're off!

If any forumites are in the Central Florida area, and your into Foghat, Harleys or both there is some info available here:

http://www.spacecoastharley.com/event_calendar.asp (click on Sat., Nov. 12th).

I will be the one representing EB with the Orange Sterling and the fake dreadlock wig.

Well, maybe not the wig...

Foghat was the very first live band I ever saw, way back in the mid 70s. They were on their way up (hadn't really broken into the bigtime yet). It was at my high school.

Congrats!

Don't forget to look into the name of the bass player. If it turns out to be "Riff", tell him hello from Angela (my wife) who used to live next door to him in Orlando circa 1990.

That's a really cool gig!

I wish I could be there to see it.

I'm sure there will be some photos posted on the dealership's website eventually...I will link them when they come out...

Thanks for the well wishes, guys...I'll try to carry the Sterling name with honor ;)

For some odd reason, I can remember very little of the concert I went to with Foghat opening for Boston (in Memphis back in the 70s). The other guys in my band were sooooo jealous.

I suffer from similar "odd reason" memory loss of most of the 70's & 80's my ownself.

it seems that, unbeknownst to me, killing brain cells has always been one of my favorite pasttimes.

HEY it was my first concert too!!! Right after the Fool for the City album came out. In fact Slow Ride was the first song I ever learned to play on bass! :D

SteveB, Will do.

My understanding is that their current bass player used to play with Molly Hatchett...oddly enough, Molly Hatchett was supposed to be the headliner for this gig back in September, but construction delays pushed everything out until this weekend, and they were no longer able to make it, hence we have "Foghat".

In any event, I promise a full report as soon as I regain consciousness on Sunday...

On the subject of faulty memories: Back in the 70s and 80s I saw Clapton, Santana, the Who and a few others, apparently...from I've been told, they were the best shows I ever saw...

My last "concert" was the Spice Girls. (Don't ask.)
