An airplane had to crash land or take an "emergency landing" today because the landing gear was turned 90 degrees in the front. and he landed to plane perfect. all 139 passengers were safe and 6 crew "MAZING ARE YOU?!" haha

I don't think airplanes make concious decisions to crash land. That'd be scary. What if you were on a manically depressed airplane?

:p

Just got done watching the vid for the landing...that was smoother than most of the "normal" landings I've experienced!

I should book Jet Blue for NY in November...ah hell! Already booked on United!

BTW, shouldn't this thread be in "Current Events"?

I just saw a clip whilst on the phone, so I didn't get the narrative.

Is it the one with all the sparks & s**t coming from the front wheels?

Kudos to the pilot, man. I'd be sending him Christmas cards for life.

I’d rather have my eye lids stretched over the top of my head and stapled to the back of my neck than fly… I hate to fly anymore.

I can remember when the stewardesses were beautiful, there was a menu (that’s French for “list of food”), you could SMOKE, you got dressed up to travel, beer was a buck, you could carry a pocket knife, you didn’t have to have a full body search…

It wasn’t that long ago. The fun is gone, unless you’re flying to SLO for a hell of a party!!! :D

can you imagine being one of those people flyin around in circles for 3 hours knowing they had to make a landing that may end up in flames ????????
then......... they have to process that ungodly sound of the gear touching down & GRINDING OFF !!! surely that sounded like the world was ending inside that plane !!!!
i'm glad it ended so good !!!!!

+1

I don't know about the smoking part though. I can remeber being on flights in the smoking section. Everyone was sitting there with a cigarette between their lips, lighter in hand waiting for that light to go out. The cloud of smoke that rose up when that little light went off was stifling.

ahhhh not true airline "crash" have become less deadly over the years in fact its rare for people to die in them now... sep for assholes that decide to flight them into stuff. and this wasnt even a crash it was a well thought out "emergency landing" as they called it lol..

far as i'm concerned.........there aint too many things more lethal than an airliner crash.
at one point they were considering leaving the gear up..& landing in foam !!!!!!!!!!!!

Naw lately its been uncommon for people to be Killed in a plane crash.... alot of the stuff we do today is very safe it just seems unsafe cause the media projects it that way.... a freight train was going 80 mph and lost a wheel im pretty sure that ****ed some **** up but nothing happened.. it was a derailment and delayed my train for 13 hours from SLO but we got the bus to another station and get a different train
